Course Curriculum Overview
I'm very interested in learning about crimes & their investigation, so based on my interest i've chosen the course. This course curriculum prepares for the real time challenges in life. But still the curriculum of the course can be improved based on the improvement & advancement of the society & world. Conducting practicals & experiments can be improved way more than the present things. The examinations are conductedon right time like at the end of the semester i.e., like after 3 or 4 months after the start of the course semester.
Internships Opportunities
We are provided with internships at the last semester i.e., 4th semester. We forensic students are provided with internships in the forensic science labs where we learn and perform new things. Our batch have'nt attended internship as we're still in our 3rd semester so we currently don't have any idea about stipend.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fees I pay for the course I'm currently pursuing [M.Sc. Forensic Sciences] is 46365/-. The caution fees is around 300/- and the total fee is around 46600/-. The scholarships are provided for students where the government bears the fee of the student by the means of depositing the amounts into their joint accounts. Admission fee is around 250/-. For the management seat, our course donot have managemet quota. But we do have self finance quota seats where the students have to pay around 198825/-. this is also provided with the schorlarship by the government where the money is deposited to the joint accounts of the students. From what i've heard the fee for this year has to some 50000/-.
Campus Life
Our campus is completely filled with different kinds of infrastructure, statues, trees & lots of greenery. We've different kinds of sports activities like departmental games, university level sports competitions. Different programs are conducted during different occassions like Republic day, Independence day, Woman's day etc., We have a very good central library where we can access the books & also we have a digital library, competitive cell for the students who prepare for competitive exams. Library is provided with wifi for the access of the students. The facilities in the campus are all well versed.
Hostel Facilities
For the registration of the hostel room, we need to pay an yearly fee of 10000/- for the hostel and 1500/- for the mess bill. The mess bill is cut from the 10000/- we payed at the start basing on the monthly expenses at the end of the year. If the expenses are more than this 10000/- then that remaining extra amount has to be paid or else there's no need to pay as the bill will be cut from the 10000/-. As we come to the meal quality & menu, i've to say it bold, the food is not so good, sometimes the rice will be cooked nice but the other times it's like wheat straw or sometimes it's too soft that we don't want to eat the food. The menu includes, rice, sambar, rasam, dal rasam, curd and curries include: dal, dal with some leavy vegetables, beans, beetroot, carrot, mealmaker, brinjal, potato, cabbage fry, ladies finger, cabbage curry, ivy gourd. for breakfast : idli, upma, kichdi, lemon rice, bonda Hostel room is accommodated for 5 members with racks to place the luggage. Washrooms for bathing are 6 for each wing for one floor where 2 are out of service all the time, there's always a leak in the sinks in the bathrooms which makes the washroom area filled with bad water, there are 6 restrooms for one wing of each floor where 2 of them are always either out of service or leakage problem.
Admission
I chose this university because there's no other government university in Andhra Pradesh which provides thr course of forensic science. There are private colleges offering this course but I wanted to pursue my masters in a government university. I also applied for MA[Master of arts] in English and Master of Science [M.Sc] in Human Genetics in Andhra University, Visakapatnam. I got admitted for both the courses in the university but I'm more interested in Human Genetics & Forensic Sciences and i chose to pursue my masters in Forensic Sciences so I just joined in this university. For getting admission in the university first we need to write the exam called PgCET this is for the students who want to get admitted into the colleges or universities for pursuing their masters. After the exam based on the marks obtained and qualification process we can apply for the counciling for the desired colleges & universities. And by that process you get admitted into the college where you've report to the college by paying the admission fee, college fee etc.,
Faculty
we have only 1 faculty to the ratio of 21 students. The faculty-student relationship is quite good as they seek our reviews about class & try to provide us with more knowledge. We used to have other 2 faculties who treated us very well & they had very good knowledge about the subject & the way they teach us is great that once we listen to the lecture we remember everything & there's no need for a review of lecture again but as an unfortunate situation they have to leave as they got some other good job, so currently we're out of staff for lectures. There are 2 semester end exams per year 1 lab internal & 1 lab external per semester. The exams are not that tough or easy just we can pass the exam if we learn it properly as it is all based on the real time situations. There's no failed student for us. We have 100% pass percentage.
Night Life
For the girls, gym is povided in the hostel but the equipment is not all that good. They need to be replaced. Ansd as for the girls they're not allowed to go out of the hostel after 3:30 p.m, for the return to the hostel from the college, the girls shoulbe inside the hostel by 5:30 p.m. So its not possible for girls to hangout late nigts around the college. So we don't quire know about the hangout spots at night time but we do have some favourite spots to hangout during the day time. Like one of our favourite spot to hangout is near the library where there are number of statues of the scientists and all, it's kimd of a nice place to chill while waiting for the bus and also there's another spot which is infront of the canteen where it is filled with trees & some benches to sit , that's where me & my friends sit & chat for a long time.
