Course Curriculum Overview

5

The factors that influenced me to take this course at this college was the faculty they have the best faculty and hod in the whole Bangalore plus they offer us additional course as well as workshops such as conducted by ICHR where we form connections and prepare for the real world challenges, we have 3 internal exams , one class test, one practical and one mid sem as well as final exams. The area they need to approve is that they can add more practicals to the curriculum which helps us to engage and work efficiently

Internships Opportunities

5

There were variety of paid internships offered as well as unpaid by the college like the st Johns Museum, internship at pantaloon at Ngo etc , roles offered were mostly to assist and help and at time even take over the role.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yearly i had to pay around 30-40 thousand, with added course which could cost around 1k- 2k and monthly hostel fee is around 8.5 k, we get some relaxation being from minority and if you are from cbse like me you would be paying around 30 but karantaka board students were have to pay around 20k and we get variety of scholarships such as sc/st , minority and state as well as national scholarships which are to be renewed on yearly basis. Most of the scholarships are merit based you need atleast 85 to 90 percent in your 12th board.

Campus Life

4

The college has well developed library as well as e library, there are various clubs like Ncc , NSS , lit club which are very active and we have events like scintillation and artimus but there is zero to no sports or dance clubs in the college.

Hostel Facilities

3

So you will have to share the room with 2 people around , you have washroom and fan and window . In hostel the meals cooked is only south Indian and not very eatable, shifting to pg is better in Sg palya you can choose from 2,3 or 4 sharing and would have the same facilities as above but would have better food and can cook even in the kitchen provided.

Admission

Jyoti Nivas is a minority college that was my first reason to opt for this specific college plus it's women only and a charitable college and the other thing is the department of history the hod is the most efficient one u can find in Bangalore , even professors in colleges like Joseph have not even completed their phd yet but here u will get well learned faculty and the other thing is college is very affordable as compared to others in colleges like Christ we are supposed to pay around 1 lakh yearly but here it's only 30 thousand, I applied to other colleges but as the deadlines for all the colleges were almost over so i got reply frok only mew minority colleges one of them being kristu jyanti

Faculty

5

The faculty to student ratio is good and appropriate unlike many teachers i met in my life , teachers here are very approachable, friendly, helping and supportive we do often have mentor ward meetings where we discuss stuff which is bothering us and they try to help us out as much as possible, the teachers are even open to ideas like gender spectrum making us make feel more comfortable plus the principal is very soft spoken and caring Ms Maya and Nalani are the stars of the college.

Interview Experience

5

There were 2 interview round where they asked questions like why to choose this course and college and about our dreams and aspirations, i preapred for them mostly from going through you tube videos. You will get calls from the faculty or the hod of the specific course you are opting for and may ask some questions related to the course like your favourite historian or your favourite novel.

Night Life

4

So the college is situated in Kormangala, you have various spots jear hy to chill like khawa kharpo, Garden asia, Chia Sutta bar and clubs too , kormangala is known as the heart of the city so uou can find everything around including healthcare like St Johns hospital being just nect to the college, the area is very safe for women to be around plus the people are friendly the hostel timing is around 8pm to shut and you have end number of pgs and flats around the college to choose from

Placement Experience:

The students are eligible to sit for placement in their final years. The companies which comes for the placement are deloitte, goldmanSachs, amazon and many more reputed companies. And they do make many offers. The highest package reports around 30 LPA and the average goes on around 3 to 4.5 LPA. Around 70-90 percent get placements. My plans is to pursue higher studies.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements towards the final semester of their course. Currently, I have only been using the help of my faculty for internship opportunities, since I am not looking for placements. But they have connections with big names in the communication sector, and they often have personalities coming in to give talks and interact with the students. A great number of students opt for placements and approximately 90% of them do end up getting posted at really good companies. Others choose to continue with higher education. My plan after receiving my degree would be to take up a diploma in literature in the UK, while simultaneously finding myself a position at a good publishing house there.

Placement Experience:

From my seniors, I hear that 20/30 % of students from our college get placed. But now being in my final sem I know the reality. For covid and lockdown, the placement sector has been badly hit. Only a handful of companies came this year (5/6 companies). 4/5 people from our batch are placed but no placement for the big chunk of people. From 5th sem students become eligible for placements but in 5th sem, no company came to our college for placement this year. Only in the 6th sem, the placement cell started. Companies that visited till now ( some of them came to take interns and didn't offer full-time jobs) 1) Clevertize, 2) Social Panga, 3) Robert Bosch GmbH, 4) Saatchi & Saatchi, 5) Publicis, 6)PR Pundit, 7) McKinsey, 8) Edsol Edtech, 9) Momo Media, 10) MSL, 11) Genesis BC, Offers: 1.5-3 LPA (average). I plan to send CVs personally to companies through LINKEDIN and other job search platforms because the college hasn't provided us with good placement offers as claimed.
