Although the college is pretty well equipped and we'll be staffed, they lack a good library. The college library is very small and barely contains any material.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course and exam structure are relevant in terms of professionalism. The year is divided into two semesters, which means that the students have to appear for a two-term examination each year. The curriculum is based on the regulations of Panjab University and includes all the vitals of each subject that a student requires to successfully work in the field.
Placement Experience
As I am in the second year of my bachelor's degree, I haven't availed any internships yet but the college provides sufficient opportunities for the students. The on-campus placement cell handles the placement of the students.
College Events
MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh is known in the Tricity area for the grandeur of events. The annual fest Meraki is one of the biggest fests of all the colleges in Chandigarh. The college celebrates various festivals with zest and enthusiasm. Adding to this, the college also participates in various contests. Last year, it was voted as the cleanest residential college in India.
Fee Structure And Facilities
I am pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology honors. The fee structure of this course ranges between 16000-18000 per year. The examination fee is charged by the University separately for every semester. The college hostel costs around 80000-100000 per year. If a student goes for off-campus lodging, the average expenses sum up to 10000-15000 per month.
Fees and Financial Aid
I did not opt for any scholarship or education loan or any sort of financial aid. Although the students can opt for them by getting the relevant information on the college's website.
Campus Life
The campus life here at MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh is a blend of friendliness as well as competition. Considering it is an all-girls' college, there is no possibility for any gender discrimination. The college population is very diverse as the students come from states all over India. There are no discriminations based on caste, culture, sexuality, etc. The extracurriculars are also very varied and involving.
Alumni/Alumna
I haven't been in contact with the alumni, though I know a few of them due to family relations and have gotten to know that the alumni network is strong and that the college hosts certain events for them. The senior students are very interactive with their juniors.
Admission
The admission process in MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh is pretty simple. The year I took admission, we were supposed to buy a hard copy of the college prospectus and admission form from the college, fill it up, and then visit for the counseling where our applications were sanctioned. This process usually starts in the second week of July. Although this year, the forms were digitalized and the applicants had to apply through the college's website, making the admission process way easier than before.
Faculty
The faculty of MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh consists of highly educated professionals who take great pain in accomplishing the task of imparting the professional knowledge to their students along with helping them with their personal and impersonal issues.
