Course Curriculum Overview

4

1. I chose Data Science as my course as it is one of the most desired jobs in the current market. 2. Curriculum was great in theoretical learning but I think Practical Learning could be worked upon. 3. More hands on learning experience is required 4. Exams came fairly quicker with medium to high difficulty.

Internships Opportunities

1

Internships start from 3rd year itself. Only the top layer of students get that. If your CGPA is below 8.5 then you will not be eligible to sit for many companies. from 4th year comapnies start coming and provide both internship and full time opportunties.

Placement Experience

2

Students are eligible for internships from 6th semester More than 500+ companies visit and almost 10k offers are made Highest package was 92LPA and profile was of a Software Developer Percentage of students getting placed was 80%

Fees and Financial Aid

VIT has a very interesting fees structure, the amount you pay yearly clearly depends on how you perform in their entrance test and what rank you have got. First of all there are 2 groups in which all the Btech Specializations have been divided, Group A includes Chemical Engineering, Biomedical and similar streams whereas Group B includes Computer Science and all its Specialization. Now, the fees structure is broken down into 5 categories. Students securing the lowest rank will be given category 1 and as your rank moves up your category will be increased. For Group A Category 1 fees is around 1,76,000 Category 2 fees is around 2,35,000 Category 3 fees is around 3,43,000 Category 4 fees is around 3,68,000 Category 5 fees is around 4,00,000 For Group B Category 1 fees is around 2,00,000 Category 2 fees is around 3,07,000 Category 3 fees is around 4,05,000 Category 4 fees is around 4,48,000 Category 5 fees is around 5,00,000 All these are including the Caution fees which is aroun 3,000 If you are AIR 1 in CBSE 12th boards or Tamil Nadu Board topper then you will get 100 percent scholarship.

Campus Life

3

There are 2 fests one is cultural and the other being a technical fest. Riviera and Gravitas respectively VIT has a very big library (3 floors) with vast book collection Many facilities like gyms and swimming pool are available More than 100 clubs are there in VIT

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel rooms for some blocks like G and L are not upto mark with unhygenic toilets. Mess food is also not good especially if you are a north indian You get hostel based on your cgpa Non AC rooms are very difficult to live in due to the weather.

Admission

I applied for BITS Pilani along with VIT. I couldnt clear the BITSAT thus didnt get in. I chose VIT as it was very high up in the NIRF Private College Rankings. I also applied to SRM and also got admission. I didnt go there because VIT had better reputation and a higher average salary.

Faculty

4

Faculty student ratio is about 20% There are 3 examinations in 1 semester 2 CATS and 1 FAT which either 2 DA (Digital Assignment),1 quiz or vice-versa Some of the faculties are ignorant and rude, but most are helpful

Night Life

1

There is no nightlife in VIT as you cant go out of your hostel gate after 9. There is nothing to do at night except go to your friends room in the same hostel or just sit in your room and watch youtube. Not a good college choice if you want to have a nightlife.

Other Applied Colleges

BITS Pilani (Pilani Campus) | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Computer Science)

I couldn't clear their examination which is BITSAT.

SRM Institute of Science and Technology - [SRMIST] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

I got admission letter from VIT, Vellore which at that time had a better reputation and more placement percentage with higher average salary.

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.

Placement Experience:

1.) Placement begins from the pre-final year and we are allowed to apply for companies from the final year. 2.) Around 70% of the class gets placed in reputed companies with an average CTC of 4-8 LPA. 3.) Along with core biotech companies, many IT companies are also hiring students at a very decent package. 4.) I plan to pursue a master's after this course.

The students become elgible for placements right from the 5th semester of their course work. The students who have no standing arrears become elgibile in the first place. There are many companies visiting the college where Infosys, Cognizant, Virtusa are the mass recruiters. The are many other companies like TCS, Wipro, Zoho etc. visiting the college placement drive. On overall 90% of students gets placed every year. The highest package of 25lakhs per annum was offered by amazon for 3 students. My plans after getting degree is to get placed in any of the company.
