One of the fastest internet in the country, the only IIT having a Supercomputer, one of the few IITs having Internet connectivity in majority part of the Campus, open-air theatre of a capacity of 3000 students, One of the best libraries of the country, 4 Computer Centres- I can go on writing pages about the awesomeness of this institute!!

IIT Kanpur is a bit different from most other IITs in terms of academics. Our grading system goes 10, 8, 6, 4, 2. In most other IITs it is something like 10, 9, 8, 7… That automatically means that if the professor doesn’t think you deserve A, you get 8 in IITK and 9 in most other IITs. Instructors have complete autonomy over the course. IIT Kanpur conducts mid-semester and ends semester examination and two quizzes, one before mid sem and other one after the mid sem. The students are graded on a relative grading system, with a credit system.

The placement percentage figure stood at 77% in 2017 Considered the highest so far among all the IITs, 782 students of the total of 1015 registered have already received whopping offers including 21 from international firms. the institute has already surpassed its own previous year’s record. IIT Kanpur offers many internship programs for students who are registered for a degree program in a recognized Institute (other than IIT Kanpur) or a University in India or abroad, and who is officially sponsored/recommended by that Institute or University to take up an internship at IIT Kanpur can register here as a Non-Degree student.

There are mainly three events organized which are among the top events in india. First one is udhgosh which is sports event second one is antragini which is cultural festival and third one is techkriti which is technical festival.

Students belonging to SC/ST/PH categories are given 100% waiver on the Tuition Fee. ** SC/ST student is not charged the hostel seat rent if parent's/guardian's income is less than ?6 lakhs. MEB - The most economically backward BT/BS students (whose family income is less than ?1 lakh per annum) will get full remission of the tuition fee. OEB - Other economically backward BT/BS students (whose family income is between ?1 lakh to ?5 lakhs per annum) will get full remission of 2/3rd of the tuition fee. General category students permitted for Day Scholar are to pay Hostel Seat Rent as per statute 23(1) of IIT Kanpur. # Day scholars are not charged water charges and mess establishment charges. However Hostel seat rent are to be paid. # SBRA/RA/ACES/CPWD/PT/Type-1 residents are not charged Hostel seat rent, water charges and mess establishment charges.

There is no loan facility by college itself but there are lot of scholarship available for IIT Kanpur students. Scholarships are merit cum means (MCM) scholarship, sports scholarship, FBM (free basic messing and pocket allowance) scholarship, INSPIRE scholarship and lot more.

For extracurricular activities there are lot of clubs under cultural council(dance club, dramatics club, english literary society, hindi sahitya sbha, fine arts club, music club) film and media council science and technology council and hobby groups at iitk.IIT KANPUR's all labs are well equipped with latest equipments avaliable in labs.IIT Kanpur is not just about academics but also has world class sports facilities. It has two cricket fields, a 400 metres track, an Olympic sized swimming pool, separate floodlit football and hockey fields, floodlit basketball courts (2 synthetic, 1 cemented), volleyball and tennis (six synthetic) courts, indoor basketball and badminton stadiums, indoor arenas for weightlifting and squash, a skating rink, a taekwondo arena, table tennis rooms, a yoga room, two well-equipped gymnasiums and the list goes on and on.

There are total 13 hostel in iit kanpur. All hostels have wifi facility round the clock. Older hostel do not have lifts but new hostel hall12 and hall13 have lift facility available round the clock. The mess is well maintained and serves a variety of food (but is nowhere close to homemade food) and hostels are very spacious.

IIT Kanpur has produced the outstanding alumni but there are few people who have touched as many lives and apparently has helped so many start-ups as has Rajeev Motwani. Most of the Seniors are helpful and guide their juniors.

IIT KANPUR has excellent faculty who have completed their PhDs and Post Docs from the top universities around the world like Stanford. Their main focus is to develop the students to make them good engineers.
