Course Curriculum Overview
The Curriculum is Competency Based Medical Education (CBME). Pros: 1. Focusses more on practical aspects of medicine. Provides training on procedural skills such as Ryle's tube insertion, catheterization etc. Such kind of training helps us a lot in developing professional skills. 2. Newer additions to the curriculum such as Self-Directed Learning (SDL), Small Group Discussions (SGD) etc..promote discussions of most relevant clinical topics in detail. Seminars are also conducted. Such activities provide a number of benefits to the students such as overcoming stage fear, enhancing communication skills through seminars which is a very important aspect in a doctor's profession,
Internships Opportunities
An Internship period of 12 months is mandatory after completion of MBBS course in order to get Permanent registration as a Doctor. After we pass Final Year MBBS exams, we need to acquire a temporary registration certificate for the purpose of practising Internship, the validity of which will only be 13 months from the date of issue of the certificate. Since patient load is less, clinical exposure as an intern will be less. Stipend is Rs. 7000 per month. Seminars should be taken by each intern in every department, failure of which will lead to non-issue of Completion certificate.

Admission
It was my first attempt at NEET-UG Entrance examination and had applied for Sree Gokulam Medical College, SMCI Medical College, Karakonam, Amala Medical College, Pushpagiri Medical College, Jubilee Medical College, KMCT Malabar Medical College, Malabar Medical College, Al Azhar Medical College and Azeezia Medical College. I was allotted Al Azhar Medical College, but I didn't want to select a college that far. So I opted Azeezia which is comparatively nearer to my home. NEET UG Examination is the qualifying exam. A score of 600+ (which may vary based on the difficulty level of exam) may be needed for a Government seat. A rank within 1000 is required for being admitted in a Government institution. A rank upto around 10000 can fetch you a merit seat in a private medical college. Even lower ranks are okay for admission to NRI seats provided you have an NRI status. Other All-India level exams for MBBS: AIIMS for several institutions of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, JIPMER for admission to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Post-graduate Medical Education and Research.
Faculty
Approximately 10 faculties in each department. All teaching members are highly knowledgeable, well experienced, out of which many are retired Professors from Government Medical Colleges. Most of the faculties maintain a good rapport with the students, making it easy for students to approach them anytime. A minimum of 3 internal exams and 1 model exams are conducted for every batch. Both theory and practical exams are held. In addition, short periodic assessments are also conducted which enable the students to keep revising their topics and improve their academics in total. Exams are of a moderate difficulty level, question papers are set based on the new Competency Based Medical Education Curriculum. This new curriculum is very relevant in the current clinical scenario as it focuses more on the practical aspects of medicine rather than just mere theory. The new CBME curriculum also focuses on AETCOM (Attitude, Ethics and Communication), which trains us to be more empathetic, disciplined doctors with ethical values. Around 10 percent of students fail to clear the exams on an average. Most of the students pass with first class and many manage to score distinction. There are alumnis from Azeezia Medical College who have cracked the Postgraduate entrance exams in the very first or second attempt and got admitted to Government Medical Institutions.
Night Life
During UG period, students are supposed to get back to hostels by 6.30 pm. House surgeons have no curfew in particular due to round the clock duty hours.
