The essence of St. Xavier's College, Kolkata

The upto date curriculum influenced me to take up this course as all the industry relevant skills are taught in the classrooms. Students are also allowed to choose anything as their multidisciplinary to gain a wide perspective on the world and other subjects. People can make their course as rigorous as they like. The frequency and timing of the exams are well suited. Thorough revising and studying can build an amazing foundation and skill set for students.

D.E.Shaw, Accenture, Delloite and other very good companies visit the campus. The employment rate it 95%. The median package is 8-9 lakhs and the highest package is around 24-25 lakhs. St. Xavier's is an amazing launching pad for people who desire to study abroad for their masters. Students become eligible for campus placement from the 6th semester.

The fee structure of St. Xavier's College Kolkata, is pretty justified, they charge Rs.65000 during admission and then in the subsequent semesters they charge Rs.30000 and inbetween each semester. A lot of scholarships are also available.

The overall campus experience is pretty amazing, with educational events and seminars happening all the time, along with event that showcase talent and creativity. It is a place where creativity is allowed to thrive. Xavotsav is the annual fest and e-Xabyte is the departmental fest of computer science. These fests are held during January. All sorts of books and journals can be found in the library along with subscriptions to elite blogs and journals. Accessibility is something that St. Xavier's prides itself on. Microsoft is partnered with the college to provide students access to the premium features of Microsoft. Smart boards and projectors are present in every classroom. We have a massive field where sports events keep taking place. You can find every kind of sports competition in the college. Societies is Xavier's are endless and thrilling. The events organised by societies are worth the time and effort as they are unique, engaging and inspiring. People can learn a lot from the societies and events that keep happening.

I got into all the other colleges in Kolkata that I had applied to. This was my target college as their curriculum was upto date and had an industry driven approach to teaching. It is also graded A++ by NAAC. The societies and all allow students to discover themselves even more. The admission process for my college is difficult as you need to have good scores in your board subject, not only overall but also maths and physics. The method of calculating the score is (2*Maths + Physics+ overall aggregate)/4. I had missed the cut off in the first list, but made it in the second list.

The faculty to student ratio is a bit disbalanced but the faculty is approachable and very helpful. We have internal exams and end semester exams. The exams are difficult and but failure is rare as very good students are taken in the institution. The course curriculum is very relevant to today's world with AI and Machine learning being a big part of the course.

The nightlife of Kolkata is pretty good but students of St.Xavier's are known for their dedication and restraint. The hostel is also very safe with a curfew at 8:30 and 3 meals a day. St.Xavier's is located in Park street which is like the Church Street of Bangalore. It the most fun part of the city. Famous hangout spot for students are delights, express cafe and green benches. All around the campus we have several iconic cafes, heritage buildings, offices of famous companies, shops and more.
