- No outing for girls in the first year but from second year onwards outing is allowed.
Course Curriculum Overview
Strong core subjects - CIT focuses on building a solid foundation in core engineering principles which is beneficial for technical competency. Methods of teaching are chalk and talk and ppt presentations. Seminars will be taken to improve the communication skills and subject knowledge in students. Soft skill training and aptitude training will also be given to the students.
Internships Opportunities
Students have to do their internships from the end of 4th semester onwards. A list of various companies will be provided and students can choose the company of their interest accordingly. From 3rd year onwards projects are to be made.
Placement Experience
Placements are there in Coimbatore Institute of Technology. Companies visit the campus from 7th semester onwards. Top companies like Deshaw, Bosch, Toshiba, L&T and many more visit the campus. The highest package is 52 LPA and average package is around 5LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
For 1st year the course fees is Rs. 28500( including tution fee, special fees and all other miscelleneous). For second year the course fees is around 27000 ( including tuition fees and other fees). Same is for 3rd and 4th year. This fees structure is for aided. Most students pay this fees as they get into college through TNEA counselling. Students who study in government schools are exempt from all kinds of fees and their education is completely free. Meanwhile students who opted the course through self supporting have to pay more fees. Exam fees for each semester is around 3000. Mess fees for each month is also around 3000. Many scholarships are there such as BC scholarship, SC/ST scholarship etc.
Campus Life
There is an active sports club amd athletics club and sports like cricket, badminton, football, hockey, kabbadi, volleyball are promoted. There are a wide varieties of clubs: Technical clubs: foss club, datalytics club, google developers club, students developers club etc. Cultural clubs: Dramatix club, music club etc. Special interest clubs: quiz club, Kalam knowledge club, literary club, Entrepreneurship development cell, photo club, nature club, arts club etc are present.
Hostel Facilities
4 sharing hostel room are present for first years. For second and third year students 2 sharing and 4 sharing rooms are present. Reading rooms are present in hostel. The hostel fees per year is around 35000 to 42000 rupees. Mess food is decent.
Admission
Students are generally admitted in colleges of Tamil Nadu through TNEA counselling. Coimbatore Institute of Technology is among top 10 colleges of Tamil Nadu. So the cutoff required to get into this college is high. Students from union territories and North East also come and study in CIT. There are admitted through CSAB counselling.
Faculty
Faculty members are very supportive and knowledgable. One can easily approach the faculties. Exam structure: Two mid semester and an end semester exam in each semester. Two cumulative assessment tests ( CAT) will be conducted where we have to perform lab tests.
Night Life
Gym, canteen , chaat shops are present. Library timing is from 9am to 7pm. Girls should get inside the hostel by 8pm. Club activities, sports all take place after the college. This is the time when we engage in club activities and engage with our seniors. College is completely safe for all students.
