Course Curriculum Overview
I was always interested in Computers, so I felt CSE would be a great fit. The curriculum does a good job of covering the fundamentals of programming languages such as Python, C, C++, and Java. My favorite subjects were Data Structures and the Design and Analysis of Algorithms. Our recent subjects in our 5th sem, like Data Mining and Computer Networks, were extremely informative, serving as a foundation for Machine Learning and Networks. The exams are usually well-spaced, however, due to the delay in CBSE paper corrections in 2022, the pacing of exams did feel a bit frequent. However, since we have now caught up to regular pacing, the frequency of exams felt less cramped this semester.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities are pretty varied at the college. Recently, there has been an ongoing internship/training with Sagent that may transition to placements. There is an upcoming internship drive from Amazon with a stipend of 1.45 Lakhs in the college. There are also research opportunities from acclaimed agencies to work in different states. Recently, for CISCO placements, a CCNA training looked over by CISCO is being conducted at my college. The faculty also makes sure to alert us about internship opportunities through their networks.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for placements from their 6th semester. Many companies like Infosys, CISCO, TCS, and more visit the college. The college provides a lot of Placement training to help us with our placements (in and outside the college) The highest package I have seen my seniors get was 60 LPA, I think. (I think the actual highest must be much more, but as I am not sure, I am not going to make a guess) The average package that you can expect at EEC is around 6-10 LPA. Pretty much all students get placed at my college. I intend to get placed after I get my degree and work full-time.
Fees and Financial Aid
I paid a total of 177000 in fees. Tuition Fee: 102000 Book Fee: 25000 Placement Value Added Course: 25000 E-Learning: 25000 This fee structure is common to most students but may be lesser for those in different categories. This is my fee structure as a management student.
Campus Life
Each department conducts its own Symposium, with technical and non-technical events. The symposiums are an event that brings together the entire department to put forth the best possible event. It truly brings unity between classes and even between different years. The symposiums often tend to be a great experience for the organizers and attendees alike. There are a lot of events, such as Swagat (Fresher's Day) and Talentia (Inter-Departmental cultural event). We recently hosted Comically( a convention for Anime|Movie|KPOP| fans) and a concert by Motta Maadi Music (the concert was a part of Swagat'24). All these events are managed, organized, and coordinated by Campus Life (EEC's official student council). With over 60 members split into different teams, they help conduct all the events and festive celebrations at the college. I am also a part of Campus Life and serve as the Content Head for this year's Tenure. There are a lot of clubs at the college: Book Club( Enlit), Energy Club, NSS, YRC, Rotaract Club, and MUN Club. Our college also has a list of cultural teams/clubs: Laasya(Traditional Dance Club), Killas ( Western Dance Club), 24dB(Music Club), Dions Crew(Theatre Club), and Pixters (Photography Club). The labs are equipped with high-spec computers, and if any issues are found with the systems, they are replaced/repaired relatively quickly.
Admission
My initial goal was to join Shiv Nadar University (Noida), however, after taking my exam for the university, I was eligible for other courses and not for CSE. Also, given the fee structure at SNU, I don't think I could have afforded it. After my initial rejection, I discovered EEC, and after reviewing with friends and family and getting relatively positive reviews, I decided to join this college. The admission process was not too complicated, and we had a lot of staff to guide us through it. I chose this college for its placements, the campus, and its proximity to my home.
Faculty
There are a lot of faculties in each department, and they are all very experienced and talented. The faculties in my department(CSE) are all extremely friendly and very approachable, there is no enmity between the faculty and the students. Faculty members often take great strides in aiding our learning beyond the syllabus by recommending technical events, internships, or exams. There are three total types of exams in each semester: the Unit Test, the CAT test, and the University Exam, We write the following list of exams: Unit Test - 1 Continuous Assessment Test - 1 Unit Test - 2 Continuous Assessment Test - 2 University Exam The exams are at a good difficulty level, and almost all students clear them with ease. Cons: In earlier semesters, the curriculum felt a bit out of date, but in recent semesters, the faculty has made increased efforts to update the syllabus and keep the topics relevant. There are talks of a newer regulation for our junior students with a revamped syllabus.
Night Life
The locality around the college is pretty safe to live around, owing to the police station present next to the college, various shops around the college, and apartments and houses near the college. The nightlife is quite lively and is always bustling with people. Popular spots where ppl hangout are: The juice shop opposite the college( The name is Annamalai - something, I think) Q-Bite and Q-Mart, a cafe and shop under SRM goodfoods that is present near the college. Hotel Classic is about 200m from the college and my personal favorite Biriyani spot. Within the college, you can find people around the mini-canteens or at the main cafeteria. The Open Air Theatre(OAT) is where ppl usually hang out, Since I am not a hosteller I am not too sure about hostel timings, probably closes some time in the eve(7, I think?). The campus timings are: 8:15 - 3:45 However, some staff or admin do stay back much later than that.
