Course Curriculum Overview

4

The computer science and engineering curriculum at NIT Delhi is structured covering essential topics like programming, algiorithms, databases that we recently learnt, operating systems, and ofcourse today's need artificial intelligence. It balances theoretical foundations with practical applications as we have labs scheduled of each subject of about 2 hours once in a week. However the couse can feel intense at times, requiring better pacing and additional focus on emerging technologies like blockchain and cloud computing. Examinations are designed to evaluate both compuutational understanding and practical knowledge. THe mid semester exams are typically worth 25 marks, focusing on foundational topics and short answer questions. The end semester exams , worth 50 marks , are more comprehensive, covering the entire syllabus with a mix of theory and application based questions.

Internships Opportunities

4

Many internships opportunities are available at the college such as microsoft, intuit, meesho, flipkart, blackrock but i dont have much idea about the stipend not to lie. Project that can get us into these companies are basically of machine learning, and the cgpa also plays an important role as they set a certain criteria to sit in for thses exams.

Placement Experience

4

Placements are good in our college with an avergae package of about 15 lpa. From the third year onwards students become eligible for campus placments. They are required to give various online asssesments for the qualification to the interviews. Companies like blackrock, microsoft, meesho, flipkart are visiting our campus. Google is yet to come though. The number of offers are not known to me exactly but one company takes about 5-7 people with them. The placement rate is quite good about 90% of the people are placed. My plans after getting the degree is to go for higher studies and also get to do some research related works.

Fees and Financial Aid

As i am a scheduled caste student i pay a total amount of Rs 35,000 thousand as my annual fee. I pay my fees semester wise , but as here details are asked in terms of annual fees , I will state it accordingly. If we go deep into the deatils and bifurcate the fees into various fields , it can be stated as follows : 1. Admission fee - 4000 2. Tution fees - 0 3. Development fee - 10,000 4. Library fee - 3000 5. Sports Creative Arts society - 5000 6. Computer and Internet fees - 3000 7. Students welfare - 2000 8. Industrial training and placement - 3000 9. Insurance fee annual - 2000 10. examination fe -3000 11. alumini asscoiation - 0 12. id card charges - 0 13. Misc - 0 14. Caution money refundable - 0 which all adds up to above stated amount.

Campus Life

4

The overall experience at at the campus is very nice. The name of the fests are antaragni (march-april), anveshna(september) cultural fests and a few rocking events also keep happening. Zeal(february) is also their which is an sports event. The most exciting thing is after all these events we have a dj night where we can enjoy oon our own beats. Various kinds of books and journals are available in the library the library is well maintained and we have a digital system to issue books with the help of our id cards. A student is properly tracked with the number of books they have. Our yearly library fee is also about Rs 3000 per year. Our classrooms are well accustomed with smart boards and projectors. We also have air conditioners which convert into blowers in the winters. Sports centre of our college is well maintained from where we can get issued all the sports equipment we need. We can also play billiards there. Various pictures of our achievements are also presented there. We have various social groups such as uba and social reform cell which helps the society and take initiatives to do the required.

Hostel Facilities

4

As i am having five roomates and all of them are from the same branch, the room consists of five beds, five tables and 3 almirahs that have partitions so that we can share them. The hostel has both AC and non Ac rooms. We preffered non ac rooms as they cost Rs 10,000 less then the ac ones and are quite affordable for us. We have heard of a few complains that there ac's don't work properly so we are happy with our two orient ceiling fans. Our room also has a balcony which is good to have a view in the morning and also for drying clothes. We have to share our bathroom (big enough) with the other room members next to us. The meal quality isn't good. We keep complaing regarding it but no one is there to listen to us. The breakfast menu only has oily food items although now they have introduced sprouts of three kinds. The mess fees has now increased from 3500 to 3800 per month without any chnages in the food quality and a minor changes in the food menu. The registration for the hostel happens on the same day as the physical reporting and one can choose the bed accordingly. Hot water facilities in the hostel during winter but it does gets interrupted in between.

Admission

As i read on the internet NIT delhi is a renowned institute and its prime loaction was one of the reason for choosing it. I was getting one of the top most branch here that is computer science and engineering. I did apply for artificial intelligence and data science branch here but it was an after option here. I applied it gatiskakti vishwavidhyalaya situated in gujraat, a progressing institute established by indian railways. I got artificial intelligence and data science there but the reason for not choosing it was it was quite far away from my home and the travelling was not so easy. I also applied for NIT allahbad as my first priority but wasn't able to get into its cse because of my ranking. The admission process of our college is very easy just qualifying the ranking and submitting other required details on the josaa website. When we are qualified we are called for a physical reporting for our document verification. Then we have two threee days orientation which make us known to the campus and schedule.

Faculty

3

We the students of computer science and engineering have a class of 120 students in which students are divide into two sections. at present first year of cse is having 130 students. The capacity is increasing year by year.we have a 1:65 ratio mentor to student ratio in our class and about 1 : 7 boys to girls atio in our class. THe faculties are quite approachable but they do depend upon their ta's for certain works which makes partialitties as ta's are none but M.tech students and they can grade someone close to them as good. I liked Dr. Gunjan ma'am as she took our operating system classes regularly and tried her best to make us understand everything. I would refrain muyself from taking the name of the faculty i didn't like but she didn't make us understand the subject daa and we always had to struggle with it. The major problem that i face is that they give us less marks for no reason ,atleast we should be given the right to know where we were wrong. A few times they forget to give marks at a question which if not checked by us may result in decrement in our marks. We have only two exams per semester one is of 25 marks known as mid semester and another is of 50 marks that is scheduled at the end of the semester . Students usually fail in maths in a few number but rest of the subjects they qualify. The couse cirriculum seems to be quite relevant.

Night Life

4

Talking about nightlife there isn't enough we get to go inside our hostels before its 10:00 pm. Till then we can roam around the campus after having dinner at the combined mess or the girls mess. Some people do prefer pastas or parathas of the canteen when the food at the mess is not of their choice. One can also order online food from whichever restaurant we want. We do walk from the mini campus (basically where the hostels are located) to the admin block, there are ample of street light present there. Gym is present in the basement whose timing are 6:30 to 8:30 am and 5:00 to 8:00 pm in the evening time. Cafeterias are open from 9:00 am to the hostel in timings. Library open at 9:00 am and closes at 5:30 during the normal days and open till 9:00 pm during the exam season. Yes the loaclity is completely safe to roam around in the evening. Famous places to hangout in the nearby areas include rohini which has iskon temple to visit, canaught place is also 1 hr away.

The placements of MAIT are decent as compared to market conditions. But the data shown on website or availble at various platforms is not the reality. The mass chunk of students who get a job are placed under and around 6LPA package.

When it comes to curriculum everything us fine accept 1st year curriculum. My branch is ece in 1st year i have to study chemistry and physics which is no use for anybody in future it is just waste of time pretty outdated. For 2,3 and 4th year curriculum is far better than what it is in 1st year. Odd semester starts form August and after 2 month we have to give midsem exam.1 month after midsem we have to give endsem. There is very short time period between midsem and endsem examinations.Even semester starts form January everything is same as that of odd semester.

The highest domestic package was offered by Atlanssian of 82.05LPA. The overall average package was 16.71LPA. The average package of my branch (Production and Industrial Engineering) was 12.34LPA. And in tech branches like CSE, IT it was around 24-25 LPA. Almost everyone is allowed to sit for placements. In PIE branch around 60-65% of student got placed in on campus.
