Remarks

There were no bad remarks as such. Many students complained about the dress code. For men, it was formals; for women, it was kurta or chudidhar. In the beginning few months, some girls found it very tacky. Soon, they got used to the comfort of a kurta/chu

Entrance Preview

I had applied for BA with Journalism, Psychology and English as my core subjects. I submitted the application in person (as of today, the application procedure is completely online). They had scheduled my interview on the same day. I was interviewed by the faculty. Though I had scored about 64% in my pre-university, they were more keen on how I answered their questions.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum was very well formulated. The topics were fresh and had literature that was very distinct and novel than what other universities practised. Also, They had the system of CIA (Continuous Internal Assessment), which tested us periodically throughout the semester. The CIA system kept us in the learning-mode throughout the semester. CIAs would include writing research paper, paper presentation, outdoor activities, tests, projects on the given/chosen topic. There was a lot to learn through this.

Internships Opportunities

Final Semester had a mandatory internship. We as students had to approach the company of our choice to intern. I worked in a newspaper company. I was reimbursed for my expenses.

Placement Experience

3

The job opportunities for my field is varied. Placements was offered in few companies. As I was more interested to pursue higher studies I skipped it. I worked part-time with a gaming company and a media company later. The payment was very satisfactory.

College Events

4

Christ University is famous for its fests. Inbloom, blossoms etc. Infact there were different fests with different departments. Media Studies department had a Journalism fest. Science, Management, Sociology, Performance arts etc departments had their own respective fests and all were invited.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure differs for Karnataka-candidate, non-karnataka candidate, SC/ST, Catholic/non-catholic etc. I paid a reasonable fees of about 37k a year, which according to me was very reasonable. There were no other expenses as such, it covered exam fees. Books and other materials were excluded. The ID Card issued by the college also worked as a library card and ATM card. I don't think this kind of novelty is bought up by another college so far (as my knowledge goes).

Fees and Financial Aid

I am not aware of this. But a letter to the principal can help you with the requisite guidance on this aspect.

Campus Life

5

The college had female students in a majority, in the arts department. There were many foreign students - from Nepal, Afghanistan, Africa, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Korea, USA etc. We even had students who were queer - i.e., transgenders, gay, lesbians etc. They were open about this, and none of the other students bothered to suppress them. Even students who scored less initially had all the opportunity to gain their confidence and score higher.

Hostel Facilities

4

As I am a localite in Bangalore, I didn't apply for such facilities. But my friends in the girls hostel stated that the rooms are like 5 star hotels (I can't say whether they were sarcastic or not). They found the hostel very clean and neat. The sad part

Alumni/Alumna

There are alumni meets organized in the month of January every year; where food and drinks are served. The alumni are happy to return to their college and speak for the students. Infact, in my batch we played a game, where the seniors could randomly pick a chit from a bunch of chits with names of juniors in it. And the chit the senior students picks, the name of junior student on the chit would make you their godmother/father whatever. So, even after you passout, you will be guiding them throughout their course, a nice gesture but no imposition as such.

Exam Structure

The exams are broken down into CIAs and Final exams. There are 3 CIAs or tests and one final exam per subject, totally carrying 150 marks. As discussed earlier, CIA (Continuous Internal Assessment) tested us periodically throughout the semester. The CIA sy

Faculty

4.5

The faculty in BA/Media Studies branch excelled in all fields. Most were either MPhil degree holders, and a sufficient few were PhD holders. Their knowledge of the subject was vast, and equivalently their teaching techniques are most effective. The subjec

Placement Experience:

The students are eligible to sit for placement in their final years. The companies which comes for the placement are deloitte, goldmanSachs, amazon and many more reputed companies. And they do make many offers. The highest package reports around 30 LPA and the average goes on around 3 to 4.5 LPA. Around 70-90 percent get placements. My plans is to pursue higher studies.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements towards the final semester of their course. Currently, I have only been using the help of my faculty for internship opportunities, since I am not looking for placements. But they have connections with big names in the communication sector, and they often have personalities coming in to give talks and interact with the students. A great number of students opt for placements and approximately 90% of them do end up getting posted at really good companies. Others choose to continue with higher education. My plan after receiving my degree would be to take up a diploma in literature in the UK, while simultaneously finding myself a position at a good publishing house there.

Placement Experience:

From my seniors, I hear that 20/30 % of students from our college get placed. But now being in my final sem I know the reality. For covid and lockdown, the placement sector has been badly hit. Only a handful of companies came this year (5/6 companies). 4/5 people from our batch are placed but no placement for the big chunk of people. From 5th sem students become eligible for placements but in 5th sem, no company came to our college for placement this year. Only in the 6th sem, the placement cell started. Companies that visited till now ( some of them came to take interns and didn't offer full-time jobs) 1) Clevertize, 2) Social Panga, 3) Robert Bosch GmbH, 4) Saatchi & Saatchi, 5) Publicis, 6)PR Pundit, 7) McKinsey, 8) Edsol Edtech, 9) Momo Media, 10) MSL, 11) Genesis BC, Offers: 1.5-3 LPA (average). I plan to send CVs personally to companies through LINKEDIN and other job search platforms because the college hasn't provided us with good placement offers as claimed.
