Dislikes
- Some officials in the management are extremely rude.
- Getting help regarding management is not easy. They will make you run from one office to the other but no one will listen to your problem.
- As this university is more then 100 years old, infrastructure of classrooms might be disappointing
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is designed for students to explore research opportunities further. Real world application is less as they aim to make you research oriented. The focus on core science concepts and teach just that. The course is not designed to make you learn how to apply the concepts in real world problems
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities are very limited in the college as the university course does not focus on employability but on building research aptitude Though a placement centre is present in the university campus which doesn't deliver best results It just provides the information on various ongoing government or private internships and workshops
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure at Lucknow University is fairly simple. You need to pay semester fee at the beginning of the semester which covers all the fee you will require to pay for the semester like tution fee, examination fee, library fee, development fee etc. There are two options for fee submission self financed and regular. For self financed subjects you need to pay extra money ( maybe due to requirement of lab access etc). For the regular students, the fee remains relatively on the lower end. I paid approx 6500 during my time of admission in the university in the month of August for first semester. The fee structure for the other semesters remains approximately same. The breakdown of fee is as follows :- Admission fee - rs 175 Cultural activities fee - rs 50 Delegency fee - rs 30 Development fee - rs 1000 Enrollment fee - rs 500 Examination fee - rs 1750 Games fee - rs 100 Identity card fee - rs 50 Library and e-library fee - rs 100 Municipal fee - rs 100 Student welfare fun - rs 100 Tution fees - rs 735 Subject fee - rs 2000 Rovers fund - rs 50 The University provides assistance with the scholarships provided by the government. A lot of students avail scholarships from second semester. Scholarships are not provided from the first semester as first semester s exam scores are required for scholarship. Fees for arts and commerce departments is slightly cheaper then science department.
Campus Life
The cultural and social environment in the campus is evolving. There are a few cultural societies in the old university campus centred around theatre music and performing arts. The university organises a cultural fest typically in the month of November or December by the name Sanskriti Surbhi. The technical environment in the campus is absent. No prominent tech clubs are there in the old campus. However, the new university campus has technical exposure.
Admission
I gave LU s entrance exam in the month of July and recieved its merit list by the end of the same month. Later that month I made the choices of subject. Depending on the merit list, the subjects are allotted to a student. After being offered a seat, one has to submit either just the seat acceptance fee if they want to upgrade their subject choices or whole semester fee if they accept the offered subjects. Student needs to submit the documents in the university campus for verification. After which one can report to college for their classes Usually the semester starts in the month of September.
Faculty
Mainly there are end semester examinations which all the students entrolled in the course need to take. However, teachers might take mid term tests if they want. Difficulty level is moderate to slightly tough depending.
Night Life
The basic college facilities like libraries canteens and other public areas are accessible till 7 pm in the evening. The departments close at 5 pm in the evening During night, hostel students are not allowed to be outside of their hostel premises.
