FIEM College Review For BCA Department

Overall A good College to enjoy your College life in every aspects. You can enjoy the events and co curricular activities along with the best academics and labs facilities. Teachers are so friendly and helpful by nature.

The Course Curriculum is very good as it strictly follows the University norms (MAKAUT) Formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology. The syllabus of BCA course contains 5 subjects in each semester with atleast 2 programming labs. FIEM follows the semester Exam structure as the University examination is held over every 6 months after completion of a semester. There are also 2 internal exams of 30 marks each within the period of 6 months before the semester exam. The semester exam have 5 theory paper and a minimum of 2 Lab papers in every semester. The duration of BCA course is of 3 years which comprises of 6 semesters.

Being a Student of FIEM I got alot of Opportunity for the placement I personally faced about 7-8 companies in the placement drive of my final year. Some of the major companies in our placement drives are Cognizant (CTS), TCS, INFOSYS, AMAZON, CAPGEMINI, DELLOITE and many more. So there is an immense opportunity for getting placed in well known IT Companies with a little hard work during your course duration. However FIEM Does not provide any internship at college basis but students are free to do internship on there own. College will guide them for the best. College arrange some programming language based training in the 4th and 5th semester for the students from industries best Training cells.

FIEM Have a lots of events going throughout the year in the college campus. Our college have mainly 3 major clubs who are responsible for all the college events. These clubs are mainly- 1. CULRAV- The official Cultural Club of FIEM. 2. XPLORICA- THE official Tech events club. 3. Sports club which timely organises sports events. As you enter in the college campus after a month of your batch starting date you will be welcomed in the college with the Fresher's Party event. There are time to time cultural events like dance, music, Film Making and many more events takes place under the banner of CULRUV. Our college have two auditoriums and two huge grounds for these events to take place. There are many more events which you will explore in college campus.

The Fee structure is very much feasible and in budget of middle class. It hardly needs any loan approval. Fee structure for BCA Department is approx 40,000 per semester. At the time of admission students have to deposit 5,000 as caution money along with the admission and semester fees. The caution money is refundable and got refunded after the successful completion of your course.

I personally had not availed any type of loan facility offered by College. But as far as I know College offers two types of scholarship for students and many of my friends have also opted for scholarships. College approves scholarship provided by the domecile states from where students belongs to.

There are a lot of extracurricular activities to do on college campus with the collaboration of different cultural, tech and sports clubs of college. Our college have well equipped labs with advance technology. College also have many computer LABS for students a central library for all. BCA Department have there own Computer Labs and Library seperately for the students of Computer Application Department.

College does not provide any hostel facility on its own. But it may recommend hostels outside the college premises. I also have opted hostel facility outside the college during my course. Hostel infrastructure is up to the mark. The lodging facilities are good but foods are traditional Bengali food so many students may face taste problem in starting semester but after an year you can also opt for private places like flat rents with you friends.

Senior students of our college are very helpful and they help juniors in every aspects like in course curriculum and also outside the college when you are in hostel. Our college is a 100% ragging free campus. So no need to be feared about the ragging culture. Seniors are very friendly here.

First of all I got a prospectus describing all the course related information for BCA including the Syllabus, Fee structure, Semester schedule and information regarding the documents to be submitted for the admission process. Next I submitted all the related documents like 10th marksheet, 12th Marksheet, 12th migration, College leaving certificate, 4 passport sized photograph along with the admission fee to the admission cell of FIEM. After the completion of admission process I got a call from the college regarding my Batch starting day and schedule. One more thing to be noted here is that for admission in BCA you must have Mathematics as a subject in class 12.

The College faculty is well known professors having M.Tech degrees and some of our college professors also holds P.hd. They are very friendly and helpful, specially the faculty of our BCA Department are subject experts and the help students in every aspects. So no need to have fear about faculty or there teaching behaviour.
