- Faculty Members : This is the biggest plus and flex because the faculty is very experienced with most of them being PHD holders and their teaching style is truly amazing.
- Campus Life: Xaviers is always busy with events and various other fests and activities happening throughout the year. The crowd is full of energy and there is no ragging or fights as well because of strict institutional policies
- Campus Placement: Xaviers gives you the best campus placement in Eastern India and henceforth you feel a sense of security that you don’t end up doing a below average job or being unemployed. Kudos to Placement Cell
Dislikes
- Infrastructure: Well Xaviers is almost 300 years old building so its a heritage campus and there are restrictions imposed by government on modifications. The infrastructure is decent but can be improved
Course Curriculum Overview
Since the beginning of NEP , the course curriculum has become vast and covers everything in depth. You get to learn all management consultancy terms in 1st sem itself which is the best thing one can get. The faculty members teach with utmost confidence and perfection and solve doubts of each student as well. The exams are moderate.
Internships Opportunities
The Placement Cell portal has a list of internship opportunities at the college. They get mails from various firms for opening for internships and they post it on their site. They assist the students as well in the process. Big 4 firms also come for internships. The stipend offered varies from company to company
Placement Experience
The Placement Cell of Xaviers is amazing. The placements they offer is genuinely great considering its Kolkata. There are various companies that come throughout the year and offer diff roles as well like marketing, finance etc. The higest pacakage is given by companies like DE Shaw, White Oak, Meesho etc. Highest was around 24Lpa and average is 6.5Lpa
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee for bcom hons is approx 25000 per semester which increases every academic year. There are 2 semester per year and the fees usually varies. Each semester fees is paid in 2 installment and a late fine fees is applied if not paid by deadline. Usually bcom hons morning has the lowest fees because of Calcutta University regulations, fees of bcom eve is close to 55000-60000 per semester and bms bit higher or equal to that.
Campus Life
The annual festival of SXC is Xavotsav and Beyond Barriers which is held in Jan - Feb in every year. Then comes Insignia by Xaviers Commerce Society which is the biggest Management Fest. It is typically held in month of Feb ending or March. A lot of events happen of different societies as there are 38 societies in SXC. The library is two blocks away from the main campus. There are more than 10000 books in library and you can issue them for free for 2 weeks
Admission
I applied to Bhawanipur Education Society , Goenka College aof Commerce and St. Xavier's College (Autonomous) Kolkata and I got selected in all 3 of them. I chose Xaviers because the program offers flexible batch timings from 6:00 Am to 9:50 Am , allowing me to pursurr other interests throughout the day. Entry requirements are based on +2 marks and then the college releases a cut off list. Admission is competitive, with various quotas available. Academically the program is demanding with mid semester exams, semester exams and regular seminars held each Saturday. The rigorous schedule prepares us well for challenges of professional world. The average cutoff has been 93-95 but thats subjective with regards to each year
Faculty
The faculty at St. Xavier's is truly exceptional. Many professors are renowned academics with extensive reserach experience and impressive credentials. They bring a passion for their subjects that is truly infectious. Beyond academic they act as mentors and guide us. Their emphasis on critical thinking and independent learning has been invaluable. The professor are always accessible readily answering our questions and providing valuable insights. There are 2 exams mainly per semester that is mid sem exams (CIA) and end sem exams. The correction is strict.
Night Life
The night life is full of hustle and bustle. College has a gym itself, there is a cafeteria just below the main building and there is also a library two blocks away from the main campus. Xaviers is located in the prime location and heart of Kolkata i.e Park Street and Park street is know for its night life and charm during nights and Christmas. The locality is very safe for both girls and boys to hangout at night as well!!
