Course Curriculum Overview

3

Its medicine afterall. Enormous syllabus in a tiny period of time. Exams are placed with ample time in between though it will be hard to cover everything within that time. Course could be more practical and self learning type rather than lectures.

Internships Opportunities

5

Its medicine , there are no placements . You will have to do one year compulsory internship at the college hospital. After which you can pursue for pg or try for a job as a junior doctor in private could also start your own practice.

Fees and Financial Aid

When i joined in 2023 i had to pay a fee of 18000 but it was revised the next year and has been reduced to 10800 though i am not sure if it is applicable for first years. This fee is excluding the exam fee which will be around 8k to be paid seperate during the time if exam. Scholarships for reservation students are available from the government of tamilnadu. Hostel fees is only the meas fees which can be around 6 thousand a month.

Campus Life

4

There will be lots of college festivals and events to take part in. There is the tamil mandram and culturals which are the main fests that take place within almost 6 months of gap between them. There are also other events such as academic events , hostel days , sports days and such. Sports are plenty you will have lots of time to spend on sports and also lots of resources. Our college has one of the biggest grounds in all of kanyakumari. There are two libraries with ample books and journals and space to sit and study. Clubs are not too many though starting and running one will always be invited.

Hostel Facilities

3

First year rooms are new with 2 people per room and seperate cupboards for each. First year hostels are seperate and are newly built hence cleaner. From 2nd year we have to shift to old hostel that spaces 3 people per room with seperate cupboards for each person. Mess is student run so could be changed anytime. Hostel itself has no fee but you will be paying the mess fee which can be around 6000 a month.

Admission

You need NEET to get into medicine and colleges are based on your rank. I could have chosen thoothukudi but i went with kanyakumari mainly due to the environment of the college , weather . The campus overall looked more green and inviting. Admission is based on counselling , cpuld be tamil nadu counselling or all india counselling depending on from where you are . A day or two will have to be spent on admission where forms will have to be filled , physical checkups are done and certain agreements have to be signed.

Faculty

5

There are various faculty and hence various types of them too , you will be able to make your way theough them without much difficulty . Faculty are passionate at teaching though major efforts must be put by you. There are 4 internals and one proff at the end of the year.

Night Life

2

There are gym equipments in both boys and girls hostel, a small canteen that runs in the day. There are multiple parks inside to spend time. Hostel in timings are 8 pm for girls and 10 pm for boys though it varies for first years (would be earlier). the locality is not the most developed so usually there isnt much activity at night so it wouldnt be advisable to be out at night.

Other Applied Colleges

Course Curriculum Overview:

It deals with patient care and clinical diagnosis along with hands on training the influenced my decision to take up this course. Through ward postings, history taking and case discussion it prepares me well for my PG exams and further future pursuits. Skill based learning should be emphasised more along with small group teaching. Sometimes the close spacing of exams can be very stressful. Difficulty level is appropriate.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the course is very challenging obviously as we're studying to become doctors. it could've been better by increasing the duration of the course. our first year/ semester instead of it being for 12 months was only of 9-10 months so our portions are being pushed a little. it happened due the scam etc around neet and our course start date was pushed. the course could be made easier by increasing the duration of the course. we have exams every week which does make it easier to keep up with the portions but makes it too stressful for us. maybe instead of keeping exams on monday they could change it to saturday so we can relax and be free on sundays.

Placement Experience:

The students in their internship will get around 35000 per month excluding their mess fees, they have the option to opt out of the mess. And once they finish their internship they had to do two years bond in places where the colleges allot them and the salary for those two years will be decided by the place the person goes and itll be definitely more than what they get during internship.
