Course Curriculum Overview
The zoology curriculum I pursued was, for the most part relevant. The emphasis on evolutionary biology animal behaviour, and ecology and resonated with my interests. The practical components, and field trips, were very helpful in gaining experience. The frequency of exams was nice, allowing for sufficient study time between assessments.
Internships Opportunities
Ther were lot of internship opportunities but I didn't opted for any ! Many companies are associated with jobcoach.in and Click2carrer and they don't approach forefront, therefore it's hard to get their names.
Placement Experience
when I attended, the college used to provide placements in last 4 months of 3rd year. The names of the companies are not publicly available and we were not allowed to share this data but total no of offers made for our batch were between 10-12 5 lakh per annum was highest for our batch. And I am preparing for competitive exams.
Fees and Financial Aid
Year wise I paid registration fees in between 2300 to 2600 rupees. Female students are not charged any tution fees. The SC/ST students were given more relaxation. The lab fees is included in registration fees. My friend with SC category paid in between 1800-2000 registration fees. And SC/ST students were also provided with scholarships.
Campus Life
I had a good time at VGC. There were lots of fun events like the big festival like shivratri in Feb - March. The library was the most fun part , it had lots of books and the classrooms were nice. There were sports and other activities to do.Students helped run things like the student council and clubs. Overall I enjoyed my time at college. It was a great place to learn and have fun.
Admission
I didn't applied for more than 1 college. Academic requirements - Minimum percentage or GPA of 60 % required in 12th to apply for science stream. The admission process involves submitting an application form along with the required documents. They will choose you on the basis of merit The admission process was relatively smooth. I applied online and was shortlisted easily.
Faculty
The faculty to students ratio was awful at my time. It was almost 1 teacher for 70-100 students. But the faculty was very nice and helpful. Especially the clerical department. They resolved our issues very calmly. The HOD of botany department is very nice. Mostly all the faculty members were nice to students. There was annual exam system when I studied. Total eight final exams with two exams of botany, 2 exams of chemistry,2 exams of zoology, 1 english and 1 EVS .
Night Life
The area is very safe. The panchvaktra temple was our favourite hangout place. There was not any late night parties but we use to hangout at lot of places like Indira Market, Bhoothnath gali , gurudwara sahib ji and many more. Hostel timming was pretty rough for girls. They are not allowed to go in and out before 9 am and after 5 pm.
