Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is well spaced in 4 years of theory and 1 year of internship, all that is learned in the 4 years is applied in the final year. How well one understands the subjects of 1st year i.e. Anatomy, Biochemistry and Physiology, shape the understanding of the 2nd year subjects. One needs to form a strong base in the first year to enable easy understanding and link the topics taught in the coming years. Since clinical postings start in the 2nd year, it is extremely important to pay attention and learn little skills to be able to attain the practical knowledge that comes with clinics.

Fees and Financial Aid

For the general quota, the academic fees for the first year is 10 lakh, with an increment of 10% per annum for the coming years. Hostel and mess fees amount to 1.5 lakh, with a security deposit of 50,000 on admission. The top 5 students according to merit taking admission in the first year are eligible for the Anandi Bai Scholarship which waives the academic fees.

Campus Life

4

•Overall, the campus life is well balanced with availablity of recreation faculties like a gymnasium on Campus, Sports complexes with facilities for Badminton, Volleyball, Basketball, etc. The campus with its greenery, fresh environment away from the traffic of the city is a serene place to be. •The college has its annual fest 'Avyanna' every year in the first quarter of the year, which has a footfall of roughly 3000 per year. Besides this, there are multiple other fests on the campus from other colleges the University at various times of the year. •Most books relevant to the syllabus are available in the College library. • All classrooms and lecture halls are equipped with projectors, mics and screens thus facilitating learning. • The college also has multiple clubs like the Music, Art, Dramatics, Dance, Literature,Sports, Adventure, etc which promote extracurricular activities.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostels are compulsory. There are 3 sharing hostel rooms available with good housekeeping facilities. There's provision of bed, study table, chair, shelves and cupboards, etc per head. The mess food is decent, with 3+1 meals, i.e breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. Non vegetarian food is provided thrice a week with vegetarian alternatives available.

Admission

I chose the college for the reviews I'd received from seniors and on comparison with other similar colleges. As compared to other deemed colleges of the country, SMCW is relatively affordable. On coming here I realised the faculty was truly helpful and the exposure in the general was good. Added to this was the infrastructure, the ambience at the campus which makes one feel close to nature at all times and is a serene place to study in. The admission process is via the All India Counselling of NEET UG, regulated by the MCI. The admission is based on merit and the ranks of the students in NEET UG.

Faculty

4

The faculty members are highly receptive to the students and actively involved in the learning process. There are multiple formative exams in objective and subjective format to ensure adequate understanding and retention of the covered topics. The exams are of easy to moderate difficulty, especially so if one manages to cover the designated syllabus within a week of it being taught. There are 2 internal exams every year, and a preliminary examination qualifying which one becomes eligible to appear for the University / Professional examination at the end of the year. Throughout the process, the faculty members can be easily approached for doubts and discussions.

Night Life

3

The campus is equipped with gymasiums, libraries and multiple other facilities. It also has Symbieats Cafe which functions from 9am to 6pm and a Street Cafe which functions from 6pm to 10:30 pm, hangout spots for many. The hostel in timing on weekdays is 10:30pm and on weekends is 11:30pm.

I choose the course because I wanted to become doctors from most prestigious college of India. I didn't get seat in AIIMS Delhi so then I choose this college as it is near my home town. The students faculty ratio is 70:12. All the faculty are passed out doctors so they are highly qualified and they teach us in such a way that no need to ask for any doubts. The university conducts exams after every 3 months and we all have to work very hard to pass the exams.
