VIT: Gateway of Opportunity

I think VIT is definitely in the top 20 colleges for engineering inside India. If you couldn't get into IITs, top NITs, or BITS Pilani campus, VIT is the place to go to, especially if you plan on doing CSE.

The course curriculum is updated everywhere. The college follows FFCS, where almost all course has a project component to improve practical skills. Courses are allocated as per the students' choice. They are also allowed to choose their teachers and class timings.

Placements are good, with an average placement package of 6.05 lacs for B.Tech. Placements are even better for CSE, IT, and ECE students, as a lot of companies come to these branches for software roles. A lot of companies also provide internships after the end of the 3rd or at the beginning of the 8th semester.

1) Riviera: It is the official cultural fest of the college, which has been rated as the 5th best fest overall in India. It has various events ranging from cultural, literary, sports to quizzes as well. With a reach of 30,000+, Riviera has a very high footfall. A lot of celebrities also come to the college for the fest. 2. Gravitas: this is the official technical and scientific fest of the college, usually held in October or September.

Depends on the rank. For ranks under 10,000 students usually get Category 1 which is usually affordable. As the rank increases, so does the fees. Fees for Category 1 are around 2 lac per year and it increases as you up the categories.

The college doesn't offer loans itself however it has tied up with banks such as PNB (Punjab National Bank ) and Indian Bank who provide loans at attractive rates for VIT students. The college provides a full scholarship to VITEEE top 100 ranks and Tamil Nadu district toppers.

There are more than 120 clubs and Chapters inside the VIT Vellore Campus, ranging from technical ones like IEEE and ACM to non-technical ones like Quiz Club, Debate Society, Model UN society etcetera.

The seniors and alumni are quite helpful towards the juniors. They can easily be contacted by juniors on LinkedIn for references and leads. Similarly, current seniors are also quite helpful for their juniors. There is no ragging inside the VIT campus.

I Took the VITEEE examination and cleared it with a decent rank. After this, a counseling process took place a few days later where branches were allotted based on the ranks. CSE, CSE specializations and IT were the most demanded.

The faculty ranges from excellent to below average. All of them have PHDs, and some of them are from premier IITs (some even from Ivy league institutes). However, most of the students use additional resources such as YouTube and Coursera to supplement their classroom learning.
