Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course Structure is very good which influenced me to pursue B.com Hons. The blend of accountancy, marketing, finance, mathematics, economics and audit gives you wide knowledge of every commerce field and guide you for future career options. This course has helped me in my CA career as syllabus of both is very similar. I feel teaching methods needs to improved. Practical knowledge and intership should be provided from 1st year only related to theoretical knowledge we are gaining. Final exam of 80 marks are conducted twice a month of 3 hours each. Yes, Calcutta University papers are moderate but it's very difficult to score good marks. Many students fail in final examination.

Placement Experience

4

Yes, College provide placements but maximum are outside kolkata. College provides councellor for resume making and interview preparation. Also, college provide link and list of companies hiring freshers graduate with satisfactory salary.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees Structure:- 1st Year- Rs.5380 2nd Year- Rs.5440 3rd Year- Rs.5000 Scholarship:- 1.National Scholarship 2.Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship 3.West Bengal Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (AIKYASHREE) 4.Kanyashree Prakalp, Department of Higher Education

Campus Life

5

This college is renowned for providing multiple sports activities like cricket competition, badminton tournament, karate and self defence services like Baghi movement. College also conducts dance competition, music events, aiz competition and debates among different colleges.

Admission

Flexibility in attendance is the reason I choose this college. As 75% attendance is compulsory , college can't help us in that but this college provide linancy. In other colleges they nag alot for coming college daily but in this college you can easily skip one day in a week. I didn't applied to much college and no I didn't get rejected. Cost structure is the reason I choosed this college over others. Fees is very nominal and affordable here . I had my admission in the year 2021. Admission was based on merit score not based on any common entrance examination. The last cut off was 75% of this college.

Faculty

There are total 50+ teachers in this college with 70+ students in a room. Teachers are very kind, friendly and approachable. I really love teachers of this college because they are very understanding. They don't give harsh punishment rather listen to us and give thiery best in helping us. There is no particular teacher of whom I like it dislikes because I really loved all the teachers and partiality is what I can't do. 2 internal exams and 2 final exams are conducted in a year. Internal Exams are moderate and enough to judge students academic preparation which is a good thing. Many students fail to clear final exams. The syllabus of B.com Hons course equals to CA Intermediate Level so I feel it's damn worthy. I would recommend everyone from Commerce Background to do it.

Night Life

4

Salr lake is one of the top areas of Kolkata and I am lucky that our college is located there. From fitness studio to Golds Gym there are dozens and dozens of fitness centres in vicinity. Cafes in Salt Lake Sector 3 operate till 1 am and my favourites are The Purple Blend Cafe and the Craft Coffee.

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.
