Remarks
Just a single negative. The absence of maintenance of important labs. Rest everything is a positive, starting from faculty, their cooperation, care they take, opportunities provided by institution, affordability and so on.
Course Curriculum Overview
We have a semester exam structure. The course curriculum is hectic which in a way prepares us for the real life scenario that we shall face in professional fields. But exposure to actual professional scenarios is limited till the 8th semester which is professional training. Even though regular classes involve professionals, somehow the exposure seems limited to me.
Placement Experience
Yes there is ample placement in most fields from the institute. Most people start doing internships in first year itself. The college gives a two month semester break after each semester for engineering departments so that we can participate in internships and projects. Internship experiences are great. Good learning opportunities. Professional exposure. Stipend is not up to the mark in most cases.
College Events
There's an annual cultural fest organised in spring by each of the three faculties (arts, science, enng) so three annual fests. There are departmental freshers and farewells every year. Also college organises an overall freshers program each year. There's an annual tech fest organised by engineering faculty. Also regular seminars, workshops and cultural programs take place by individual departments and clubs.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is extremely feasible, in fact one of the most reasonable institutes that provides quality technical education at such a low fees. There also exists fee waivers for the economically weaker sections.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is a tuition fee waiver scholarship for those students who are economically weak and qualify the entrances. It provides complete waiving off of the already low tuition fees, which makes this an extremely affordable institute.
Campus Life
College has a physical education department which organises annual sports. Also gym and basketball court is available to every student. Labs are sufficient but not always properly maintained. There are various clubs like painting, photography, mountaineering for other activities.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network, as already mentioned, is very good. Senior junior interaction, especially in my department is amazing. They provide professional as well as personal assistance to students whenever required.
Admission
I qualified West Bengal joint entrance examination which is a qualifying examination for engineering and medical in the state. I also qualified the NATA examination which is mandatory for architecture students. Then there was an online counseling for WBJEE through which the admission happened finally. Other departments in the college have entrance exams and merit list wise admissions too.
Faculty
It is a great institute with a wide range of exposure from faculty as well as alumni. Being one of the premier institutes in the state, exposure was good, regular seminars and workshops being a contributor to that. The relationship between seniors and juniors is very impressive which is why the we had the scope to interact with many alumni and it was a rewarding experience.
