The college is one of the oldest and prestigious institue of the country. It is affiliated to the worlds third largest hospital - Civil hospital ahmedabad. It is considered to be the best college of gujarat and ranked highest among other college of gujarat.
Course Curriculum Overview
MBBS is a 5.5 year course including a compulsary internship for one year. The first year is of one year, second year is of 1.5 year and third year is of 2 years and 1 year of compulsary internships. There are preliminary exam and university exam at the end of each year. And mid term exams. There are no weekly exams.
Placement Experience
Yes, 1 year compulsary internship is to be done by student in the civil hospital Ahmedabad (3rd largest hospital of world). They also provide internship facility for students of other government medical college across Gujarat. The internship is done in a government hospital and thus you get expose to indefinite number of patients varying from normal to the rarest case during your internship. The stipend vary every year, generally there is an increment in stipend every year. Currently the stipend is 15,000/- per month.
College Events
Every year, we have an annual fest - BJ Beats. It is organised by the second year students of the college. It is a 4 day/4night events. It is one of the largest medical fest in the western zone of India. Every year a celebrity is invited to be a part of the fest. Benny Dayal, KK, Sachin-Jigar etc are few celebrity who have came in the fest in the last few years. We have an annual conference Beats Concourse. It is a conference for medical students mostly undergraduates.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee is 25000/year. It is feasible. Numerous schemes are available to the students who cannot afford it. You have to pay 25000 before the beginning of the year itself. It is cheap in comparison to other medical colleges.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarship are available to economically weaker sections as well as SC ST students too. They get free books and also certain amount of their fees are paid by government. As the college fee is not a huge amount, no loan facility is available.
Campus Life
The college has a badminton court, basketball court, and a cricket pitch. Common room have carrom chess etc. There are 7 labs in college - histology, histopathology, pharmacology, anatomy museum, forensic museum, microbiology lab and all are well equipped with modern equipments.
Hostel Facilities
We have been alloted 1 BhK flats. Water Nd electricity is 24*7. No wifi facilty. Campus have grennery and concrete roads. Two canteen are present among all the students and mess is situated at walking distance from hostel.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors are very helpful. They clear doubts whenever required and also help with exams, quiz preparations, organising any events. Many of the professor in the college are alumni of the college. They are helpful in providing guidance.
Admission
NEET is the national eligibility cum entrance test for getting admission into medical college across India. It is the sole exams based on which seat are alloted. Every government medical college has 15% seats alloted to all india quota through which students from other states can get a seat And 85% for state quota student. I secured my seat in the 15% all india quota.
Faculty
The faculty of the college are alumnus of the prestigious college itself. They have experience of over 20 years. They are liberal, knowledgeable. Each departments have numerous professors and residents.
