Likes
- There are lot of seminars organised by the college on various issues including women empowerment, vocational courses , and current day fads and fashions.
- I also liked he fact that most of departments arranged for excursions for students to let them study outside the classroom periphery and learn from and within nature.
- Teachers encourage students to present research papers at various research oriented seminars.
Dislikes
- The hygiene is of great concern , especially girls' in the college.
- Lack of placement opportunities. In other words , students do not get the on campus facility of placements,after course completion they have to go to companies and give their interview
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because literature has been an area of compassion to me always. And getting into graduation with this and now pursuing masters have opened doors for me to meet a lot of other persons , apart from my faculties who guide me with my research programs. According to me the course curriculum is absolutely fine , nothing has to change in it. The exams take place at regular intervals , with each semester of being a 6 months course.
Fees and Financial Aid
I took admission in Michael Madhusudan Memorial College affiliated to Kazi Nazrul University. The fees per year was 2500/- . It has increased in the past few years. Additionally, I didn't have any scholarship availability so my course funding was all made by me.
Campus Life
My campus experience is overall quite good. Every year the college organises annual sports day and annual cultural fest. Also , the library has a lot of good books to help students with their academics. There are projecters in the class to help students understand in an audio visual manner. The college student union also helps students in any matter of problem.
Admission
I did apply to another college , Durgapur Government College , but I got chosen not for Hons. but for English Program course. But a few days later I saw my name published in Michael's merit list for English Hons. I didn't have to give any admission test for that , the eligibility criteria was the 12th marks and now that I've come a long way , it's just because I chose Michael.
Faculty
My department has the most number of faculties in comparison to other departments including guest lecturers. My bonding with each faculty was great and even that is the reason that I'm pursuing my masters from the same college. All the faculty members guide me in the best ways possible. Also their teaching methods allow me to research about a lot of things in and around my course.
Night Life
Most of the days me and my friends go to a nearby cafe where we not only discuss life but also different ideas about how we can see any literature text through different perspectives . The locality around the college is quite safe. We don't have the availability to roam at night , because we don't have hostel facility and moreover we all are localities and no hostel is needed. But with friends after college that 1 to 2 hours are like the best hours of the day. Even we sit on the college ground to discuss various topics.
