Course Curriculum Overview

4

I personally chose B.Tech in textile technology as it is relatively a very light coursework degree compared to other departments. Also this was the best I could get from my JEE Rank. The curriculum is very well curated and is difficult, rich in knowledge and provides world class knowledge of the fundamentals as well as recent advancements in different aspects of technology. The first 2-3 years are more focussed on providing fundamental knowledge of the domain, though I would suggest that the curriculum needs to also teach about standard industry practices of today, especially during practicals. The creator of Fastag, who was from IIT Delhi, stated that FasTag was created solely from the knowledge he gained in IIT Delhi. Exams are challenging and difficult. Depending on the course policy, quizzes are held every 2 weeks on an average. Exams are allotted mostly in the day, early morning or even evening.

Placement Experience

4

Students become eligible for placements from 7th semester (B.tech ) and from 9th semester ( Dual Degree students ). A lot of companies such as FAANG, HFT firms, international banks like JPMC, GS, Morgan Stanley, product based companies and Indian startups like flipkart, myntra, zomato etc. come to the campus, as well as consulting companies like Bain and Co., McKinsey, KPMG. Almost 70-80% students get placed, average package being around 18 lakh rupees. My plans after getting a degree is to either give CAT exam or join a product based company

Fees and Financial Aid

My academic fees per semester is 114350 INR. This only covers tuition fees and availing other college facilities. If opting for hostel one must pay 5000 rupees seat rent and 32000 message fees by the end of the semester. These are the only fees that are required to be paid by a general male student. Fees are much lesser for SC/ST students. Additionally, students coming from poor backgrounds are provided scholarships and cash benefitsm. There are many scholarship benefits that can be availed by 1st year students based on academic performance both in college and their category. For each department, the top ranking student of the respective department is awarded money by the college.

Campus Life

5

Rendezvous, BeCON Kaizen and Trust are our most popular annual events. There are a lots of books in our institute library, books by the most famous authors and researchers worldwide, and access to the most quality and almost every research material in the World. The classrooms are equipped with projectors for slideshows and presentations, centralized ACs and speakers. There are lots of cultural clubs like literature, debate, music, dance. We have an entire Board for Recreational and Cultural activities that manages extra curricular activities, and such activities are highly encouraged and prevelant here. There are various competitions held in different clubs, and winners are given points that contribute to the hostel's BRCA trophy point. Sports is also highly encouraged, and there are lots of tennis courts, large football grounds, cricket pitches and field tracks

Hostel Facilities

3

1st and 2nd year students have to share rooms with 2 or 3 people. 3rd and 4th year students get single rooms. The room has 2 fan and almirahs and cupboards and chairs. Meals are quite okay and quality varies from hostel to hostel. I live in the Aravali hostel of IIT Delhi. Hostels are randomly allotted at the time of admission

Admission

I had applied for IIT Roorkee civil engineering, IIT Kharagpur industrial engineering. Ultimately chose IIT Delhi because it is closer to my home. For admission I got a 6.2k rank in JEE Advanced 2023, applied for JoSAA counselling which is a monthong process, did the formalities and chose IIT Delhi in the end

Faculty

4

Faculty to student ratio is 1:8, with around 650 faculty members from all departments. Each professor is unique and incredibly knowledge and experienced in their own departments, often having PhDs from foreign universities. Almost all professors are approachable and love talking with students over various research topics and often take students under them for research projects. I liked Tarak Karmakar sir from Department of Chemistry, Sisisr Debnath sir from humanities department and Vikrant sir from Department of Materials sciences. As of now I don't dislike any faculty in particular, everyone is great in their own way and have different sets of beliefs. There are week long marathons of exams twice in a semester, mid semester exams and end semester exams. Each individual course also has different number of quizzes, depending on the course policy created by the course coordinator.

Night Life

5

There is not a strict timing in hostels entry and exit. Students from other hostels cannot stay in another hostel after 2 pm in the night, though the strictness of these rules depend upon the guards of the hostel. Nightlife is amazing, with tons of places to be at and tons of eateries to eat at. Famous spots are Biotech Lawn, Mech lawns, Holistic nightmess and Chaayos

The placements of MAIT are decent as compared to market conditions. But the data shown on website or availble at various platforms is not the reality. The mass chunk of students who get a job are placed under and around 6LPA package.

When it comes to curriculum everything us fine accept 1st year curriculum. My branch is ece in 1st year i have to study chemistry and physics which is no use for anybody in future it is just waste of time pretty outdated. For 2,3 and 4th year curriculum is far better than what it is in 1st year. Odd semester starts form August and after 2 month we have to give midsem exam.1 month after midsem we have to give endsem. There is very short time period between midsem and endsem examinations.Even semester starts form January everything is same as that of odd semester.

Placements are good in DTU. Usually a student is eligible to sit in placements from 4th year. Last year 325+ companies visited the campus like google, abode, Amazon, Microsoft, zomato, samsung, maruti suzuki, etc. They all have made 2050+ offers. The highest domestic package was offered by Atlanssian of 82.05LPA. The overall average package was 16.71LPA. The average package of my branch (Production and Industrial Engineering) was 12.34LPA. And in tech branches like CSE, IT it was around 24-25 LPA. Almost everyone is allowed to sit for placements. In PIE branch around 60-65% of student got placed in on campus.
