Overall Basaveshwar engineering college is a good engineering college with great faculties and great facilities.Looking into the curriculum, students actually gets lot of free time in hand which they can efficiently utilise to prepare for the competitive examinations.As the Bagalkot area is not a super urban area,so personal expenses are really less(advantage)and its calm surrounding provides a good environment for study.

The course detailed by the college is well planned and in par with the other top colleges.Though,there are times when the courses are not completely taught due to various issues, mostly being lack of time.

As per my knowledge,my department (civil engineering) didn't provide any internship to the undergraduates.Though,there are chances of industrial internship if students collectively decide and approach the head of department.

Placement and job opportunities vary department to department.In my graduation year, no core civil engineering company visited my college.TCS is a prominent placement provider in the college.Departments like Computer science, Electronics Engineering etc. Have good placement records.

Our college supports co-curricular activities too.We have NOVUS as our main college fest where various technical workshops are conducted.Students present various mini projects of their own and explains it to the other students.

Fees are feasible for many students as there are various provisions for ST students and other government funded aids to others(as was my case).Though there are management quota seats too which are relatively expensive as there is no external aid available for such seats.

As mentioned earlier,I had joined my college through the entrance examination so my admission fees were relaxed.But my college didn't provide any scholarships that I know of.I had to apply for my own state scholarship.

Our college is well equipped with sports equipments and we have a very large playground where we can play football , volleyball, cricket at the same time.It also has indoor badminton and table tennis provisions.Labs are also well equipped with required instruments and is properly utilised to full use.We have sports day events too and various other sports competitions are also held department wise.

Hostel infrastructure is very good.New hostels have been built recently.Seniors and freshers division is done.Facilities like water, electricity is also good and there are washer ladies to do the laundry if u like.Also,the rooms are regularly cleaned too. Food was ok.Common dining room is available for all and the playground is also available and functions are held in hostel too.

During my year in college,We were lucky enough to be visited by our alumnis who were already on their retirement age.It was great meeting them.The seniors of the college are very helpful and do not impose any seniority on the juniors.Everyone gets busy with their own work.We do have fresher day where we get to interact with the seniors.To be honest,you can never actually say who is the fresher or the senior just walking around the college campus.

Yearly exams are divided into semester exams.In a year,we have 3 exams in one semester (practicals included in the last examination)and another 3 in next semester(practicals included in the last examination).The marks of which are cumulated to obtain the final grades as per the credit accredited to different subjects.

I got admitted through Joint entrance examination (regional level counselling).After counselling,I confirmed my admission in Basaveshwar engineering college and submitted my documents to the Directorate of Education of my state.Then, on the prescribed date I went to Banglore where I had to collect some documents from Directorate of Education Banglore to be submitted to college for final confirmation(But now we can directly get it from college-revised norm).They surely made us wait days before they gave away those documents (they could have just given us the same day we went as per the procedure, plus the gatekeeper asked for 100rs bribe. disappointing!)Next I reached my college and submitted my documents and filled the required forms and undertakings and paid the admission fees(including hostel).Though, I had to run back and forth to the bank and back to the admission chamber.Then they issued us the challan of our payment and thus completed my admission.

Faculties of our college is very good.They are all graduates of top IITs and have in-depth knowledge of their own Field.Teaching differs from one teacher to another but overall every faculty member brings out the best in the students and are ever ready to clear the doubts.
