Bilaspur University, CG - Review

My experience with the University was a pleasant one. The Bilaspur University is accredited by UGC AIU BCI. Our faculty members were good and supportive, Infrastructure was also good but lacked management. Many other basic necessities like the medical facility, hostel facility were also absent from the university premises.

The course material which I studied was quite thorough. The curriculum also lacked the element of practical knowledge, which is an essential part of the overall learning of a student.

Internship opportunities are limited in the University. One has to arrange a two-month Internship program on their own.

The placement was quite decent in our department. Most of the on-campus job drive was in the field of teaching and research. Several organizations like Biocon, Cipla, Wipro, Reliance, CCMB, CDFD, BCIL, etc. recruit students in positions like JRF, SRF, Biotechnologists, Microbiologists, Scientists, Managers, etc.

The extracurricular activities included Games, NCC, NSS and other activities that were also available here. In our college, we celebrated different types of festivals like annual function, games, SCINEX Millenium and other curricular activities.

My BHM course fee was around INR 30,000 which is quite nominal when compared with other universities. I belong to OBC category, which made me eligible for scholarship programs offered by the university.

I applied for a scholarship through the Chhattisgarh state scholarship portal under the OBC category. My application was sanctioned by the board and I received a grant from the second year onwards.

Campus life was quite happening. We participated in numerous cultural events, organized throughout the year. Our Hotel Management department also organized some industry visits to facilitate industry exposure. Overall the campus life was quite busy and happening.

Bilaspur University organizes exams biannually. So we used to have the exam at the end of each semester.

My admission was facilitated by the entrance exam organized by the University. Students from all disciplines appeared for the BHM program. My name was there in the second shortlist. After that, I appeared at the university for the documentation process.

Most of the faculty members were quite good. All of the faculty members, especially Hamid Sir, were qualified and supportive. Even some of the guest faculty were quite good at teaching.
