Kongu Engineering College - The life of Adulthood

I had my dream to study Instrumentation Engineering, so I chose this stream in this college. This curriculum prepares everyone in such a way that the job you are opting in the future contains the lessons which you have learnt in the college academics.

There are few companies which provided internship like ERP Roots, Yokogawa etc with stipend ranging from 15k to 25k. In the internship in which the companies provide, the role of the students would be initially Graduate Engineer Trainee in which we would learn the companies process and then apply in their respective individual roles provided by the company.

From the 6th semester onwards, companies started to visit students for hiring. There are many companies visiting each and every department respectively. In this department, many companies like Honeywell, Yokogawa, Delta electronics, KBR, Zoho etc visited and looked for hiring. The highest package offered is around 11lpa and the average package of the total companies is around 5-6 lpa. Around 85-95% students are getting placed, while the other students opt for higher studies/ business.

Tuition fees - Rs.100000/ year for govt quota and Rs.125000 for management quota Hostel fees - Rs. 80000/ year Scholarship amount varies for Rs.6000 to Rs.11000 depending upon the student whether he is a first graduate or not and whether he opted for hostel or not.

There will be many technical competitions being conducted in each and every department once in 2 months inorder to make the students cope up with technical skills like paper presentation, project presentation etc. Also non-technical events are also held. There is a huge ground and indoor playground which itself describes the sports opportunities. There is also a scholarship if you come into this college with sports quota.Once a year, in the month of January or February there will be culturals conducted in the Asia's second largest convention center located in this college. There are many clubs in the college in which students can go and join for the role of member, executive member, secretary etc in order to improve their leadership skills.

The hostel accomodation is neat and clean. The food they provide is also hygiene and good. This is a veg- based hostel, so we cant expect non-veg. But every 2 days egg will be provided. There are single, double sharing, triple sharing rooms available in each and every hostels. Totally there are 11 hostels which includes 7 hostels for boys and 4 hostels for girls. Registration process is simple and could be done within 10-15 minutes. If we rented a room or a PG, the location or the distance from the college is quite walkable only.

The first college which I applied is this Kongu Engineering College, Electronics and Instrumentation Department, As i said earlier i was fond of instrumentation which made me to take this stream in this college.Majorly to get admission in this college, everyone has to have a minimum of 60-70% in sslc and hsc(10th & 12th) board exams and a well-defined cut off mark to enter this college.

In a department, a total of around 20-25 staffs are there for around 120 students/year. All the faculties are having a Ph.D degree, so there isn't any confusion in teaching. Every 5 or 6 months there is the semester exam which is being held in the college and every 1 or 2 months internal exams are held. Majority of the students gets pass mark as the teaching is nice.

Majorly everyone will hangout in a place known as "Food Court" which is the canteen for the college. As it contains snacks, food, xerox stores located inside. There is a payable gym in the college as well as gym in the hostels for the hostel students to use. There is a huge library located in the college which contains all the books and journals related to academics and as well as each and every department contains it's own library in the department.
