Remarks
Positive: They make some good engineers (only some) Negatives: The methodology is totally outdated and ancient as the college itself is. Fine imposition is a lot that students cannot bear. Treating students like slaves is not to be entertained. Not everyone does that, but most of them do. Finally, regret joining here and wasting my under grad life.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is a bit old fashioned but still the best when compared to other colleges out there. There are 44 theory papers with varying credit points from 2-4 and 17 laboratory papers with each 2 credit points and 1 final project with 12 credit points.
Internships Opportunities
Our college will let us search and find internships on our own. If we succeed in getting one on our seventh semester they'll let us go. But this all happens only at the end of the final year. Not anywhere in between.
Placement Experience
Mepco has a good wing of placement team and looks for companies with wide eyes. They bring us in a lot of companies for campus drives and lots and lots of eligible students get placed, almost all (perhaps lot is an understatement)
College Events
Our college conducts plenty of events. This includes technical, non-technical, cultural, etc. In the odd semester of the year, we've our Legacy which is an intercollege cultural and noncultural meet where other college students come and participate in events they're interested in. In the even semester, there are two major events the 'FIESTA' and the 'GYANMITRA' Fiesta is our college Cultural and Gyanmitra is intercollege technical meet.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It depends on what seat you get. They have 2 kinds of seats one Anna University counseling way and the other is a management seat. If you get one from Anna University then you've gotta pay yearly fee ranging from 85000-95000 INR. In case you've got a management seat then you'll have to pay around 120000-130000 INR. There are different scholarships you can claim once you get in.
Fees and Financial Aid
I've never got any scholarships. But there are many that you can avail of. If you've scored some percentage and have no backlogs and no fine records no attendance deficiency and a lot more conditions to avail one and somehow most of us will fail in one or the other.
Campus Life
Labs are pretty good and can work 24x7 with lots and lots of restrictions. Nothing much on extracurricular activities. Sports aren't given much importance. Yet there's a playground one outdoor and one indoor. Which you'd never use after your first year of college life.
Alumni/Alumna
Not much really. At times they volunteer themselves for some lectures which would also be boring. You would rather like your professor's lecture. Most people don't return to the college itself as they hate this one a lot and never get back here. Not even once after receiving the certificates.
Exam Structure
Exams are conducted every month in a semester probably 3 internals of score 50 and 2 model exams for laboratory and a final semester exam and the end of a semester. And the marks are calculated in the ratio of 60:40. The larger one is what we score in the end semester exams and the 40 is all internal. It has it's own split up. 3 internal exams contribute to 30 marks and 5 for assignments and the rest 5 for the attendance.
Admission
My 12th-grade results got published and at once I calculated my cutoff which and it was 193/200 then the application for the counseling process was open and I bought one at the Thyagaraja College of Engineering, Madurai. After a while counseling dates were announced, mine was on 4th of July 2015. Went there chose 3 of my options, there were 8 seats left in this institution and I chose this one as it's near from my locality (comparatively).
Faculty
Faculties are of five grades, the HOD(Head of the Department), professor, Assistant Professor senior grade, Assistant professor and Associate professor. Head is the senior of all and the rest according to their experience.
