Remarks

Cleanliness, supportive faculty, fair fee structure, overall development, new library and renovated infrastructure, spacious classrooms, digital boards and air conditioners in auditoriums and classrooms.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is very good for B.Com. It covers a wide range of subjects and equips you with knowledge so that you can choose to specialise in a field along or after the college course. It also gives options to students to specialise in Finance or Marketing or E-commerce in the final year, unlike most of the other colleges where Finance is default.

Internships Opportunities

Internship is a part of your final year project (in B.Com). It is not provided by the college. However it has placement cell which brings reputed companies like Deloitte, E&Y, Amazon etc in the campus at the end of the course to take in students and pay them a fair stipend. There is a committee which provide summer internships as a part of their event.

Placement Experience

3.5

Companies like Tata Consultancy Services, Deloitte, KPMG, Ernst & young, PWC, J P Morgan, Google, Zomato, United bank of Switzerland, Verity Solutions, Axis Bank, Citi Bank, Reckitt Benckiser, MuSigma, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Infosys, Viacom 18, Ogilvy, ICRA, MGH, Mckinsey, Boston Consultancy, Sony India Ltd, Titan, ITC, Z S Associates, Zomato, Adidas, Uber, Grofers and Cognizant regularly take students from this college. Everything about placements and job opportunities is available here http:www.sxccal.edu/PlacementCell/PlacementCell.htm

College Events

4.5

Xavotsav is a fun 3-day event organized by the Students Committee in January every year. It invites stars and personalities for concerts and performances. It also has fun contests with great prizes, awesome food and a great environment overall. Biztatva by EDC is a national level management fest organised with fun competitions in areas of finance, marketing, HR and operations. There are seminars and other competitions spread across the year by Xavier's Commerce Society which provide an overall good learning experience for students. I attended free stand-up comedy shows by Zakir Khan, Biswa Kalyan Rath and Kenny Sebastian. They even brought the cast of TVF's Pitchers. There are other cells which one can join like NCC, NSS, Enactus, Entrepreneurship Development Cell and many more depending on the department and course.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible and totally worth it provided you are serious and really want to make the most of those three years. They have a new library, a furnished and renovated auditorium, sports facilities and infrastructure and so many events and seminars to attend to. There is canteen where the rates are very fair.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are various scholarships and awards for exceptional performance by students during the course. The information about these is available on the official SXC website here http:www.sxccal.edu/facilities/SXCScholarships.htm

Campus Life

4.5

They are good. Extracurricular activities include social service, sports, placement cell, students committee and various other committees. You will get a chance to participate in a lot of events and volunteer in other activities without messing up your academics.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I was not a part of hostel so I will not be able to comment on that. But I never heard any complaints regarding the hostel. In my only visit to the boys' hostel, there was cleanliness and basic facilities like water, food and electricity. They even have a basketball court in the middle. There are events conducted exclusively for hostel students.

Alumni/Alumna

There is an Alumni Committee which reputed names like Lakshmi Niwas Mittal of Arcelor Mittal and other great personalities. They are supportive to the college and regularly donate funds for facilities in the college. The recently graduated alumni are supportive and can reached out on various social forums for advice and guidance.

Exam Structure

There are six half-yearly semesters over a course of three years. Before semester exam, there is CIA test of 50 marks for each subject and a seminar assignment which has some weightage in your final semester score.

Admission

I filled the admission form soon after my XII results. I was shortlisted in the second and final merit list after which I was given a date and time to be physically present in college to have my documents verified. I also had to bring a parent along for a short interview and deposit fees.

Faculty

4

The professors are experts in their respective fields. Some are pursuing their PHD from the college itself so they are extremely knowledgeable and provide real life examples for practical learning. Also they are supportive during tests and assignments.

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.
