A good college for doing B.E. especially mechanical.

You can enter into this college without any doubt. It is very good and worth a money. Especially for mechanical branch it is excellent. You can refer various magazines who conducts survey about engineering colleges and then believe. There are several center of excellence are there started by different companies. There is a collaboration with several foreign universities.

NIE is a autonomous college affiliated to VTU. It has its own curriculum. Usually autonomous status is given to those colleges which have high standard. The course gets updated every year and recent development in technology also included. Since I am mechanical engineering student I found it more industry oriented approach.

Yes. Internship is mandatory for every student. Minimum period of internship is 1 month. I completed 3 internships in 4 years including HAL. Our lectures are so helpful that they can refer us to different companies according to our interest. If there is provision I can put my internship certificates.

Our placement cell is very good. The placement officer is very helpful in nature. Every year top companies like Mercedes-Benz Bosch Vedanta Cisco Amazon Intuit Shell Continental L and T etc came for placements. You can check it in our college website because I named only few. At the end of the year every student will have at least one offer in hand.

The main event is college fest called TECHNIEKS. It's of 3 days. Many celebrities comes every year. Apart from that there is a fest for each department also namely COGNIESCIENCE for mechanical AAKAR for civil etc. Several educational and cultural programs happens throughout the year.

It is government a aided college so fee is cheap compare to other colleges. Merit seat is around 30000 every year including all (except hostel). There are unaided seats also which costs around 60000 per annum. The COMED K fee is higher, around 2 lakhs per year. There is a SNQ quota for economically poor students which is of 10000 per year.

There is separate section for scholarship in office. There they put every scholarship information. They maid compulsory to submit MHRD for all who are eligible. And government of Karnatakas scholarship namely epass and Vidyasiri. College itself provides scholarship for top 3 members of the class every semister. There is a bank inside the college campus (Syndicate) here loan facility can be obtained easily.

College is mainly divided into two parts one is main golden jubilee building where theory classes are happen. Other is administrative block with labs. Labs are very good and well equipped. Since I am from mechanical background I can say about it. There is machine shop, foundry and forging, heat transfer,dynamics, material testing , fluid mechanics, CNC, Metrology, Hydraulics and pneumatics , Robotics,CAD/CAM etc labs are there. There is big ground for playing cricket football court for basketball etc are there.

Hostel is worth for money. It costs 60000 per year. Food is good and rooms are spacious. Cot, Filtered water, hot water facilities are there. Wifi is also available. There is common room where TV and news papers are present. There is a big ground besides for playing. Stationary shop and bakery is present inside the hostel campus.

One of the world's largest IT company Infosys's fonder Mr. Narayanamurthy is a alumni of NIE. Famous cricketer EAS Prasanna is also alumni of NIE. C3DNA CEO Kumar Malavalli is also a alumni of NIE. Since it is started in 1946 one of the oldest college it has many people who are present in top position of several companies. There are numerous startup finders are there and they came for placement.

Ours is continues evaluation system. So marks in each and every test counts a lot. There are 3 internals of 25 marks each and best of two is taken. There are no choice in internals so we have to read everything. The semister end exam is of 100 marks and then it is reduced to 50 marks. All together cgpa is calculated. There are 2-3 labs in every semister.

After 12th there is a entrance exam conducted by government body called K.E.A. The exam name is common entrance test I.e. C.E.T. After that you got rank according to your performance. Every college has cutoff ranks for each branch. If your rank is came under cut off rank then you got admission in the name of merit seat. There is another exam called COMED K which is conducted by private colleges.

Our professors and lecturers are very good. Most of the senior faculty are PhD holders and studied in IIT and IISC. Now the rule is made that every lecture must undergoes to PhD. Especially the mechanical engineering department is excellent there are many who wrote text books which were published by Oxford university press etc. You can check that mechanical measurements and metrology by N.V. Raghavendra and L. Krishna Murthy and most of them published papers in several international journal.
