Remarks
It was a lovely place to be for four years, probably the golden years of our life and I am proud to say that I spent them in the perfect setup There could be so many things that could have been better but I would still prefer it to be the way it was because for me it was perfect
Course Curriculum Overview
It quite detailed and has a good mix of theory and practical. There are several subjects which are introduced initially during first two semesters and then gradually keep advancing over till the end of 3rd year. Final year projects are also interesting
Internships Opportunities
I am not sure if they do this but we do have M.tech courses which used to provide a stipend of Rs15000 per month along with a dedicated hostel for them where they can move in with their wives, if applicable
Placement Experience
we have a very strong Training and Placement section headed by experienced faculty. Several big PSU's, IT and non IT companies visit every year. I myself had got placed first in an IT company and later on during my final years got placed in a core sector company where I am still working and the experience has been good so far. I have been seeing induction of more batches from our college in my organisation over the years
College Events
For 1st year students welcome event is Kashish (which was banned for several years but is now again up and running) Mindbend - Annual technical event where all colleges are free to take part along with the talented minds of SVNIT Shastra - Annual cultural fest which also has a celebrity night and a fashion night
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is very basic and used to be the cheapest among all NIT's although I am not sure anymore as it surely was bound to raise the year we passed out In all, I completed my B.Tech in less than 2Lakhs which included college fee, hostel fee and also my personal expenses. So one can imagine. I would say the fee would have at max doubled by now. Likewise for hostel fee as brand new huge hostels were erected the year after we had passed out
Fees and Financial Aid
I am not aware of any such scholarship scheme as I didn't avail any but they do give it out to certain students who are from economically backward state and have scored decent enough marks to be able to claim it
Campus Life
So there's a manoj memorial cricket tournament that happens every year There's a sport complex which houses an indoor badminton court which was earlier wooden base but later on upgraded to synthetic court. It also houses a gym and table tennis. The campus was also a lovely place to jog around
Hostel Facilities
There were couple of new hostels during out tenure and they were pretty good although my favorite was H8. But the consistency varied a lot and the old H4, H5 & H6 where we lived during first year and were later demolished in 2010-11 were pretty old and just good enough to live Food was not so consistent in most messes but one could still get hold of a decent meal every now and then. For the rest of the times you had the central canteen
Alumni/Alumna
SVNIT has a strong alumnus which also has a meet every now and then.It good to catch up and know where everyone has reached in their lives and they are also helpful in assisting for referrals or sending their HR's for placement in coordination with T&P
Exam Structure
So you have several exam throughout the year smaller tests marked out of 10 mid semester exams out of 25 end semester exams out of 50 practical exams during end semester exams cumulative score for all is used to come down to a SGPA/CGPA Different grades like AA, AB, BB, BC, CC, CD, DD, EE & FF are awarded
Admission
cleared the AIEEE exam. Got several options to chose from during counseling session. Some other NIT's were also available but wanted to take up Mechanical and since I studied from Gujarat got better opportunity with state quota
Faculty
My specific branch had some of the famous professors of the state as well as the country and even the world, with one of our professors having a constant on his name. We have a faculty heading the SAE membership for the zone and some of the newly recruited lecturers were also pretty good
