Remarks

Spending 5 years at HR, I can truly call this my second home. The faculty, the staff, the students, everyone is so warm and welcoming it makes you feel at home and is my second family. The attendance at HR isn't strict which gives students a chance to develop outside the academics. The negatives would just be the infrastructure, but that's alright. It's still an amazing place to be in. I would truly say that I'm proud to be an HRite. And I'm so glad of the opportunities that I was given and having excelled in both my academics and extra curriculars. HR College will always be close to my heart.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Since I was interested in Management, I opted for BMS and it is THE course to be in! As the college is linked with the Mumbai University, it lacks a certain practical aspect to it relative to it's theory. But still HR tries to inculcate practical knowledge through presentations and live examples. BMS includes all aspects of management, so in the first year there is a mix of finance, marketing and human resource management. In the second year you can choose your specialisation and will have two subjects on that specialisation, in my case I had chosen finance. And in the final year there are 4 subjects based on the specialisation chosen and one common subject and one 100 marks research project. In this way a student can dwell deeper each year into the specialisation chosen.

Internships Opportunities

Yes our college has summer internships , I had interned with a guest faculty, who has his own Investments company in Santacruz. I had done internships in Management and business development and was eagerly looking for a finance internship since it was my specialisation. And Mohnish sir had 3 spots open for a summer internship. I applied and got through and it was an internship that taught me so much about finance, about fundamental analysis, how to look at stocks. I even got to attend the Sohn conference which has so many elite investors. It was an unpaid internship but it was definitely worth it. I interned at Bayside Media Pvt Ltd which was through a guest member who was invited for a Tedx talk. It was a Connexion program. The stipend was 7000 and it covered training on all aspects of management and we launched our own program called the Culture Table.

Placement Experience

4

The placements and job opportunities at HR are pretty good. The Big 4 come Every year and alot of new companies keep getting added every year. This year the highest paying package for a bms graduate was 11lakhs. Tata capital, ICICI, Deutsche Bank, Acies Consulting, the Big 4, ITI Ltd are a few companies which came this year.

College Events

5

HR is the hub of activities and events. There are almost 30 clubs and each club has at least 3-4 events every year. I had started a club last year as well called the Growth Development Change club which focuses on formal events such as debates, Seminars and workshops and informal events like Channel Surfing, Shipwrecked which gives students a platform to express their creativity. BMS participates in Tsunami every year which is the BMS festival of Lala Lajpat Rai college, and HR has the record of winning the fest 18 times in a row, I was a Contingent Leader and assistant contingent leader in the first and second year. There are so many inter Collegiate as well as intra college events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is very feasible. For bcom which is an aided course the fees is around 4000-5000 and for bms baf BFM bbi which are unaided courses the fees is around 18000 for a year. The fee includes the course fee, library, etc

Fees and Financial Aid

There are alot if scholarships available. I haven't availed any. There was a McDonald Conference where one student gets a chance to represent India at the conference, it was a leadership conference and my classmate got selected for it. It was a great opportunity and learning experience. There are other scholarships from different business schools as well. The international programmes committee arranges for the scholarships.

Campus Life

3.5

The extra curricular activities are spectacular. At HR every student gets a chance to discover a different side to himself/herself through various opportunities. There is a sports council and so many HR students have represented India at national events in Chess, skating and basketball and have won many laurels. There is a National service club too which takes on social activities for the betterment of the country. The canteen at HR is the best. There is so much variety in the canteen that even after spending 5 years I'm still confused as to what to order. There are 2 computer labs and a small gymnasium.

Hostel Facilities

4

There are no hostel facilities provided by HR. But there are alot of hostels nearby the Churchgate station which are very feasible. One is named New moon hostel for both men and women. Since HR doesn't have a campus there is no hostel on campus

Alumni/Alumna

Yes the alumni and network of HR students is really strong. So many seniors hold established positions in big companies or have successfully started their own venture. Alot of Bollywood celebrities belong to HR as well like Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh

Exam Structure

The exam structure in HR is organised. We get a proper schedule for internals unlike other colleges where the internals happen on random days. For our internals , it gets covered in a span of 3 days , 2papers back to back on each day. The final exam structure is as per the university.

Admission

So when the 10th board results were out I scored 93.8% and I was so delighted that I got into HR in the first general merit list. The admission process in HR is the smoothest that I've ever seen. The best part about HR is that the students handle each and every thing. From handing the documents, to collecting the fees, to making IDs. Each and every thing is handled by the students, particularly the Students council. It was a rainy day and of course there was alot of crowd since the merit lists were out, so many confused parents and students, many from Mumbai and many from out of town. The students were so helpful, right from the entrance we were guided all along and told what to do and where to go and it was such a smooth process, that day even though I wasn't officially a student, I felt proud that I was going to belong to this institution. My parents were so impressed. Our college doesn't have the massive infrastructure but it creates students who can lead and carve their niche in the world.

Faculty

4.5

According to me H.R. has one of the best and the friendliest faculty. The teachers are really young and have so much to share. Attending college is actually worthwhile. Special mention to Pooja Lalwani ma'am who's been the BMS coordinator for a couple of years. She's always been there for us and supported us in every way. She's one of the sweetesttt teachers ever and so good at what she does! The special thing in HR is that teachers are more like friends and that makes it easier to communicate and share our problems. It's not just the academic knowledge that they impart, but the knowledge that we would require in our life later for our well being. They have given us so many opportunities and have been big pillars of support. Each faculty is so experienced in Thier field and they teach us giving us relevant industry examples that makes their lectures even more interesting. Many faculty members are guest lecturers at other events and colleges too.

WWI has a Placement Cells that keeps a track on opportunities for students. There is a mandatory internship that students need to complete after completion of sem 4 before sem 5 is commenced. Students can also get internships in the winter break during sem5. There are various live projects that students can work on depending on their interests and experience during the academic year. Final Placement opportunities are posted to students during sem 6 where students need to list themselves and let the cell know about their interests and priorities.
