Facts before coming to SVNIT

Course curriculum is average as there is less time to teach everything so clubs help in learning more but faculty are amazing so we get to learn more and more everyday despite of the course and curriculum. It would be very beneficial to every student who studies the curriculum in deep.

Internship mails are forwarded to everyone through institute mail IDs and every kind of information is provided for intership process and kinds of companies offering with or without stipend. Tie-up are made with companies as well as different institutions for internship and research works.

After 6th Semester students get eligible for placements. Companies like Samsung, Amazon, Infosys, Mercedes, Asian Paints, TCS, etc. come for placement offers. Highest in mechanical engineering is 20 lacs per annum package. My plans are to study masters after bachelors. More than 50% students get placed.

For SC/ST : Tution fees per year :?15,000 Hostel and Mess Fees : ?74,000 For General Category : Tution fees per year : ?1,40,000 Hostel and Mess Fees same for every category Girls and EWS categories are given benefits in tution fees through different scholarships based on annual income.

Campus life is little boring as the area is not effectively utilised. Books and journals are more than enough. Classrooms and technological wise it is satisfactory. Sports and extracurricular activities are promoted prominently. Clubs like Drishti, Pheonix, E-Cell, CHRD, ACM, etc are there which give technological, social, communication, management and coding skills.

1 room consists of 2 beds if it is shared one provided with 2 almirah and 2-2 tables+chairs with WiFi/Lan services and tubelight,fan,etc. Sharing bathrooms and washrooms are there with geyser available. Quality of meal is not that satisfactory. After student document verification hostel admission starts which takes half an hour and your hostel is alloted. For students outside of Surat living in hostel is compulsory.

I didn't prepare well for the entrance exam and failed to score enough to get admission in other colleges. This was the only NIT I was getting which offered mechanical engineering which was my priority. JEE MAINS exam is conducted to get selected in NITs. JOSAA councelling process is done for further admission process.

Around 58-60 faculties are there for Mechanical department where each year batch compromises of around 220-250 students. 5:1 ratio. Professor R.V. RAO one of the best professors in SVNIT and world's top 3% scientist is very prominent here. In one semester we have two examinations mid sem and end sem and class tests/quizzes are conducted periodically.

After 10.30 no-one is allowed to go out of campus but roaming in campus is allowed for boys but not for girls. Facilities like night canteen is there in hostels. Library is one the best infras in the campus. Gym is opened from 5:00 a.m to 8 p.m
