for a degree sake an excellent college

Overall, this college is excellent for the sake of degree. If one just wants to attend and pass, the college wont interfere much but if a student actually shows intent to dive deep into the subjects, the faculties go out of their way to provide assistance. There is nothing around the college except a small shop. Buses frequent but like one in every 20 mins or so and there is no other modeof transport. Heat is actually unbearable, it just takes all the energy put of you.

The course curriculum as said was fairly new. Mechatronics deals with courses like mechanical, electronics and computer science hence the basic of all these three courses are taught. Though helpful at a beginner level, but not for an advanced level becuase most companies now want students who are fluent in the core subject. No doubt that Mechatronics students have an overall idea but when competing for jobs, they lack this edge. Thus, this course is like being Jack of all trades but master of none.

The college itself does not provide internship but if one wants to go ahead and do internship, the college encourages the student to go ahead with it as long as it does not interfere much with the college schedule like exams and all.

College has tie ups with many companies and the companies do come properly during the placement season but the companies that come are not so famous companies. And the companies that at times do select the students, do not give much starting salary as well.

The college has one major fest in which all the departments are involved. Invitations are sent out to other colleges as well but very few of them come to participate as the location of the college isnt that good and the heat in chennai is also on the higher side. Though intra college competition are a regular thing between different departments but that isnttoo much intresting.

The fees as i thought is pretty feasible. A student has to make fees payments every semester. The odd semester fees is around 38,000 and the even semester fees is around 48,000. A proper stipulated time is given to pay the fees if not penalties are imposed. The exam fees is a little on the higher side which is approximately around 4000 minimum.

Students who do well in Tamilnadu, i.e. during the school time and secure very good marks are given scholarships. For example, students scoring above 90 percent are given 50 percent off on their entire fees. Many students have availed loans personally or the college has a tie up with ICICI bank for the same as well.

For extracurricular activities, the college has a proper cricket and a football field though the field is not maintained that properly as there are lumps on the ground. It has a basketball and a volleyball court that is actually maintained. Labs are well equipped with all that is necessary.

Separate hostels are made for freshers or 1st year students and then a completely different hostel for 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students for the boys to ensure there is no ragging. For girls, the hostel is same for everyone. Hostel has gym, and common tv. Bathroom is common and its there on every floor.

As far as what i Have seen, students mostly come here just for the sake of their degree. College has had many batches in the past but havent seen one proper alumni meet ever happening. maybe the college isnt much intrested in it. And the college being a bit far from the city might also add to its ex students not visiting it from time to time.

Two types of exams take place. One External and the other Internals. Ecery Semester there are 3 internal exams and 1 external exam. External exam is the main exam i.e. the final exam whereas internals are more like class tests but they are equally as important as their marks are also added in the final. 2 out of 3 exams are taken into consideration in internals.

went directly to the admission head office and spoke about the admission procedure. Since i had secured good marks in my class 10 and 12, was offered admission there. The administrator incharge took a small interview regarding my communication and understanding skills and then offered me a seat in his college.

Faculty in the college are a lot helpful. If a student shows extra interest in the subject, the faculties take special care of the students so as they can get all the help needed. As usual, every college has a small percentage of faculties that do not take much interest, same is the case here.
