Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculum in the CS department is very relevant and up to date, with some of the best professors in the country/world teaching it. Every 10 years the curriculum is fully revised from scratch (going to happen now in 2025). If you follow the curriculum properly, be rest assured that you are well prepared for real-world applications. No improvements as such. Attendance policy can be removed, since it is an unnecessary burden. Semester is almost 4 months long, including holidays and mid-semester break. quizzes happen almost every month, then mid-sem exam happens around 2 months later, and end-sem at the end of 4 months. Exams are a bit difficult, but can be done if studied sufficiently.

Internships Opportunities

4

After 2nd year, students try to get a reaearch internship under professors, mainly seeking foreign ones. but very fee people are able to get. Then at the end of 3rd year, students apply for corporate internships in various companies. If the work well in your internship, the company may offer you a pre placement offer (PPO)

Placement Experience

5

Campus placements happen every year in December. Then round 2 happens around March. Only 4th year students are eligible for placements. IIT Delhi does not disclose placement statistics, so it is very hard to gain knowledge about it. But from what I have heard and know from staying here, placements go very well. Highest package is around 4 cr, offered by Jane Street. In general, quant firms offer the highest packages. But they only offer to top scorers and rankers, and only from CSE and maths and computing branch. Average package is around 2100000 Almost 100% applicants get placed. All major companies visit, including quant firms like Jane Street, Citadel, Da Vinci Derivatives, Optiver, tech giants like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Netflix etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

total year-wise fees - 300000 approx (per 2 semesters) breakup (per semester): tuition fees - 100000 institute fees - total 5350 exam fees-1500 registration fees-750 gymkhana-1250 medical fees-750 internet and computer access fee-1000 transport charges-100 other payments - 650 student distress fund scheme-400 per semester insurance scheme-500 per year hostel mess charges - 35000 one time payments in the starting: non-refundable- hostel seat rent - 8600 in old hostels, 23600 in new hostels (due to AC) seat allotment charges - 7000 admission fees - 2000 student welfare fund - 750 modernization fees - 1500 benevolent fund - 400 alumni fees - 2000 training and placement charges - 1500 refundable- hostel security - 15000 institution security deposit - 4000 library security deposit - 4000

Campus Life

4

There are a lot of festa throughout the year, including: Rendezvous - Cultural fest, August Tryst - Tech fest, March Becon - Business and entrepreneurship fest, January Kaizen - NSS fest, February Literati - Literature fest, January A lot of books and journals are available for rent (for free) in the library. You can issue a book anytime you want, for a certain number of days Lecture halls have proper projectors and screens, and mic and speaker setup for the professor. Seats have ports for chargers etc. All sports are present on campus, though slightly congested Tens of clubs are there, both technical and cultural, but have a small impact on students. They include quizzing club, debating club, literary club, devclub, robotics club, hyperloop, accelerator, algorithms and coding club, ai/ml club etc.

Hostel Facilities

3

Room is triple sharing (double sharing in some hostels). Each person gets a bed, a table, a chair, and a wardrobe. Hostel rooms are of very poor quality. Mess menu is fixed for the week. Quality is decent, but not that good. Hostels also have TT tables, reading rooms, music rooms, gym etc. Hostel fees is mentioned earlier. It is very affordable in my opinion.

Admission

IIT Delhi, for its BTech Program, takes admission only from JEE Advanced, which is conducted every year in May. After you get an all india rank in this exam, you apply for josaa. in that, you have to provide your priority order for admission in different colleges along with branches. I had put 5 choices: IIT Bombay CSE IIT Delhi CSE IIT Madras CSE IIT Kanpur CSE IIT Kharagpur CSE Since my rank was good, I got my second preference, which is IIT Delhi CSE. For general Category, IIT Bonbay CSE closed at all india rank 68, while IIT Delhi closed at 116. My rank was 113

Faculty

5

Faculty to student ratio is around 1:8. The faculty are very approachable, both during lectures and outside. I liked Pramit Chaudhary (chemical department), Hari Vemuru (applied physics department), Aditya Narain Agnihotri (physics department), Debdip Ganguly (mathematica department), Ashish Chiplunkar (computer science department). I liked these professors because of their enthusiasm, way of teaching, and friendliness. I didnt like Anant Kumar Majee (mathematica department) because of bad communication skills and lack of enthusiasm. Each course has a few quizzes (small written exams), a minor (mid-semester exam) and a major (end-semester exam). maximum weightage is for the major and the minor. your total score is found out of 100, and then you are given a grade based on relative grading. your grade can range from 4-10, or fail. cutoff of passing a course is usually around 30%, while for getting a 10 grade is 80%. The exams are decently difficult, though not that much. A student can easily pass a course with some study.

Interview Experience

1

No, no group discussion or interview was taken. The admission is wholly based on your all india rank in JEE Advanced. This exam is extremely competitive, with 1.5 lakh candidates appearing for it. To get a good rank, you need to study rigorously. A coaching center is preferred

Night Life

5

there are nightmesses almost in every hostel, which stay up till 3 AM. apart from that there are also juice shops in every hostel. there is an eatery called Rajdhani, but it closes at around 11 PM. There is a staff canteen, and Naivedyam (south indian food), but they close at around 11 PM. All of these are inside campus. Roaming anywhere inside campus is completely safe at any time. Outside campus, there is Jia Sarai, but very unsafe to roam alone/ at night.

The placements of MAIT are decent as compared to market conditions. But the data shown on website or availble at various platforms is not the reality. The mass chunk of students who get a job are placed under and around 6LPA package.

When it comes to curriculum everything us fine accept 1st year curriculum. My branch is ece in 1st year i have to study chemistry and physics which is no use for anybody in future it is just waste of time pretty outdated. For 2,3 and 4th year curriculum is far better than what it is in 1st year. Odd semester starts form August and after 2 month we have to give midsem exam.1 month after midsem we have to give endsem. There is very short time period between midsem and endsem examinations.Even semester starts form January everything is same as that of odd semester.

Placements are good in DTU. Usually a student is eligible to sit in placements from 4th year. Last year 325+ companies visited the campus like google, abode, Amazon, Microsoft, zomato, samsung, maruti suzuki, etc. They all have made 2050+ offers. The highest domestic package was offered by Atlanssian of 82.05LPA. The overall average package was 16.71LPA. The average package of my branch (Production and Industrial Engineering) was 12.34LPA. And in tech branches like CSE, IT it was around 24-25 LPA. Almost everyone is allowed to sit for placements. In PIE branch around 60-65% of student got placed in on campus.
