Remarks
For extra curricular activities this college might not be the choice one would like to have but is best if one wants to complete his engineering at minimal cost and that too with a offer letter in the end. Also one of the positive thing about the college is you dont face language problem which generally students of north face when they go to south. And so there is no such discrimination as well.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is as prescribed by the Rajasthan Technical University. Students are given just a higher level of education of what they have learnt in their intermediate and so are supposed to go through rethoric subjects like maths, physics and chemistry along with few new subjects such as basic engineering and electronic which is very good in terms of time the students get to cope-up with their new academic life. These subject also deal with gibing students a fairly well idea of what they will learn in the coming years of their engineering. Apart from this to deal with the practical implications of the students acquired knowledge they are asked to participate in an internship program after every semester. This has been done mandatory in the recent years otherwise we were merely supposed to show any one internship certificate throughout our engineering period. Again strengthening the practical knowledge. Apart from all this students get to study their respective subject depending upon the branch they have opted for. Like in mechanical you need to stidy thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, vibrations, strength of material, heat and mass transfer, theory of machines, design of machine elements, production engineering etc. So I am satisfied from the course curriculum because these are the only subjects from which questions are asked in the competitive exams for mechanical students. Also the flow of these subjects have been formulated over various semesters wisely so that a student gets fairly well time to prepare for their competitive exams along with their semester preparation.
Internships Opportunities
No. The student is himeself supposed to pursue it on the basis of his/her reference in any of the company. Like I did my internship from Sudha, Patna Dairy Project since my uncle is an employee there
Placement Experience
The final nail in the coffin of any engineering graduate is the joining letter. If in the end of your engineering life you managed to get it your engineering life was worthwile ortherwise its not. My love for my college doubled when I myself came in the fourth year and started attending campus drives. This college is best for computer science and IT students as all the famous companies like Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Cognizant, TCS, Mind-tree visit the campus for recruitment drive. And in my year specially there would be on an all merely 20-25 eligible students only from these branches who did not get placed. Otherwise all of them were placed. Percentage share of EC and Electrical students were also fairly high. Branch specific companies like Pinnacle ltd. , FL smidth, FEV, Mahindra First Choice ltd. etc also visited the campus to offer jobs to Mechanical stream students. But speaking frankly there is Zero opportunity for the civil students. One great thing about this college specifically when it comes to placement drive is that, the college has a separate group of teachers who are made responsible for the campus placement of those students who have running backs. This is know as the OUTSET students. Yes this college arranges and assures placement to those of its students also who have backs. So even if the student is not able to clear his exams the college assures them with job opportunity aswell. This is not the case in any of the colleges of the country. So 4.5/5 would be the marks I would give my college in terms of placement and campus drives.
College Events
There is no such programs which I need to "list". 1.RENAISSANCE- it is the annual cultural fest of the college scheduled in the month of March every year. 2. ZAROORAT EVENT- It is the charity event of the college in which the underprivileged kids of the society are invited and given books and free lunch. 3. Blood Donation Camp- The AASHAYEIN group of the college arranges for this camp and students and teachers actively participate in it. 4. ATHALON- It is the annual sports meet of the college. 5.MUN- Its is a dummy student's Parliament offers participation from other colleges as well. 6.JECRC HACKATHON- it a tech fest for the computer science and IT students. Apart from this there are occasional tech talks and seasions.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is extremely feasible as I earlier told you that it was one of the main motive of mine to get into this college. You are charged 35k for each semester so on-an-all 70k per year. Apart from this there is no hidden extra chargers for books, library and all as in other colleges. You just need to pay your exam fee of 1300 before the commencement of your semester exams. The hostel fee is around 80k per year. But it is not mandatory you can opt for any other PGs outside as even cheaper rate.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is a special scheme for the Jammu Migrants under which they get a fee waiver of almost 90%. I have my friends from jammu who oay merely 3500 per semester. Apart from this there is no such scholarship offered by the college in specific.
Campus Life
There is no such dance club or sports club in the college. Its like a school where students enroll themselves into various activities and make respective groups whenever required. These groups are active mainly during the fest time. Participation in other college's fest is also minimal because college management dont finance these teams. Students on their own cost prepare and participate in these competition. Sports opportunity is also just for name. As only one annual meet Athalom is organised every year and that too managed and organized by the students. So curtural activities and sports activities can be termed to be college centered and not state or national level centered.
Hostel Facilities
Very poor. Though the rooms and washrooms are big enough for three students but facility provided is nothing. You don't get good food to eat neither you get wifi to use nor you get gym. The television in the common room is also out of service. You can't even use heater , iron or induction in the hostel(though students manages to use them without getting it noticed). But you get hot water during winter but again you will have to arrange for your room cooler during summer days. But there is no extra charge for the electricity. It's a proper vegetarian mess you don't get chickens to eat so students from Bihar UP find it hard to adjust in the early days of hostel. 1.5/5
Alumni/Alumna
Alumini association have came into being from the year 2017 and so is in very naive stage so we were unable to get any mentionable aid. But recently I came to know that our seniors are helping our juniors in pursuit of their internship so it might prove to be of help to the newly admitted students.
Exam Structure
Every semester you have two circle test of every subjects of 40 marks each these are called MTT i.e Mid Term Test 1 and 2. After MTT1&2 you have to appear for your Semester exams centred in other college of the city. And there is percentage system. 600 for the theory papers and 400 for your practical paper. In every sem students has to go through 6 theoretical subjects and corresponding 4 practical paper. Total marking is done against 1000. Your semester paper is of 80 marks and 20 marks weightage is given to the MTTs marks(10 marks of each MTT) and thus the total of 100 of each subject is prepared. Out of this you need to score 40 in order to pass the exam and atleast 26 out of 80 to clear your semesters.
Admission
As I told you that I could barely managed to clear my cutoff in my mains exam but thanks to the Ranking pattern which took into account my boards percentage aswell to decide my AIR. I scored 90K AIR. On the basis of same I applied for REAP.It is a Rajasthan government portal to get admission into any of the colleges of Rajasthan. And I gave JECRC as my first preference and Mechanical as my branch preference. After the deadline of this registration period. The REAP declares its own merit list for the applied students. I managed to get a place in their first merit list and that too for my first preference as well. Then I was supposed to report to the college campus with a demand draft of 10k and also to meet varoius admission formalities. The classes are supposed to start from the month of August.
Faculty
Look make one thing very clear in your mind that when you haven't put in some efforts when you were supposed to and finally end up landing to any of the private colleges of the country , you deserve not to demand an IITs, NITs level professors. So level of teachers in any of the private college, no matter however famous it may be, is more or less equal. They may differ in terms of their outlook but ultimately they are all simple M.Tech from any other college. And this is a fact. So due to this I would rate the faculties of my college as 2.5/5. Because my of them are an alumus of JECRC only. They don't have perfect knowledge of the subject and teach randomly allotted subjects in semesters. By this I don't mean that they teaxh you wrong but simply that you can't expect them to clear your competition level doubt that's it. They are good from your smester point of view and not for your competition exams. In my case all thanks to the online video lectures of faculty from NPTEL and other sources. One good thing about the faculties in our college is that they are friendly ,they know that they don't teach students upto the marks so they don't pressurize students as well by giving assessment and homework as the case in other colleges of south. So its ultimately the students who needs to put in the efforts and hard works.
