What Students Say
Likes
- I think the freedom which the university provides is amazing.
- The faculty of English department are well versed and nice.
- The wide range of subjects you can choose
Dislikes
- Definitely it has to be the lack of sports events
- The infrastructure of many departments is too old.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course corriculum is quite updated since the arrival of NEP. Although, futher improvements can be done especially in history syllabus making it more relevant and engaging. Examination level could also be improved as in subjective exam, you usually get same questions every year. The objective exams are of pretty good standards though.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fees for a regular student is approx 7500 meanwhile for private students it is 14500 annually. Whether the fees will change will depend upon the subjects you have chosen. Supposedly there are practicals involved in a sem, then you will see your fees turn up higher.
Campus Life
Some feats are organised every year where students perform dramas, theatre, singing etc. I have attended one and it is pretty amazing in my opinion. I definitely enjoyed the poetry recitation done by some students. Sports events although organised regularly, are often dominated by hostel students, especially cricket ones. Although they give it the garb of maintaining rivalry among the hostellers.
Admission
I also applied to Delhi University and BHU. However, I couldn't get the admission in BHU due to less seats being there for male students. DU however, my I didn't get my desired course. In Lucknow University I got an easy admission after giving the entrance exam. It is pretty transparent. If you have good general knowledge regarding history and geography, add to it your language skills then you can easily get the main campus. I would suggest not to choose any affiliated college as they are pretty trash
Faculty
The faculties of English and history departments(which are my subjects) are well versed and overall nice. Although, beware there are regular complaints from other departments about facilities being rude and not teaching upto the required level.
Interview Experience
No group discussions were conducted to get an admission. That's the case for most of the courses provided by the University. Test pattern is roughly 25% language, 25% history and the rest is geography, economics, psychology and other stuff
Night Life
Gym is poorly maintained, so I would suggest you join a private one. The cafetaria food is also not upto the mark as they are poorly managed and unhygienic (although that's the case for the whole nation I would say barring the macdonalds, pizza huts and all that. Hostel infrastructure is pretty good to bearable. It depends upon the hostel you are in. There are various good parks in the university where you can hangout with your friends, mates and lovers. You can also pay visit to the very old and rich Tagore library consisting of numerous books. I personally loved the archeology section.
