My College Experience

The institute is completely an Autonomous institute. It is better when it comes to curriculum for its relavance and comprehensiveness. The institue has six different main departments whose curriculum is designed as per the Anna University norms as the institute comes under the Anna University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Each department can form their syllabus for the subjects making sure that the designed curriculum is according to the norms provided by the Anna University. The teaching methods are also well improved with digital classrooms and advanced lab facilities. The frequency of exams are pretty alright for the students for them to manage with other works. The timing of exams are also far more enough for the student to complete.

Internships from the state government that is, from Government of Tamil Nadu is provided to students who have good grades at the end of fifth semester for undergraduation courses. It is also made sure that the students get enough stipend and could claim their amount spent on travel during the internships. Students who were unable to get any internships also were made sure that they get internship opportunity with or without stipend so that 100 percent of the students in each department has internship experience when they graduate. Many popular companies conduct a test for providing internship opportunity inside the campus. Students can make use of those opportunities as well.

The placement in the college is amazing. Students get placed in good firms and with high packages on an average of 6 lakhs per annum. The highest package offered on campus will depend based on the departments. Core branches get an average of highest package of six lakhs per annum whereas for Electronics and Communication department and Computer Science department, the packages will be even more. The percentage of students getting placements include above ninety percent. For those who are not interested in placements, other opportunities like entrepreneurship training are also provide from the startup cell which is available in the college.

The academic fee in the first year include nearly 20 to 25k with all the fee (including registration fee, admission fee, developement fee). The admission for the institute will be done only through Tamil Nadu Engineering Counseling procedure. The scholarships will also be provided based on the economic background on the basis of community as well. The fee above mentioned does not include the hostel fee, mess fee and co-operative store fee. Those fee will be additionally imposed if you need them.

The overall experience in campus is amazing and the club involvement and participation of students is more than expected. The annual festivities include department national level symposiums which are held every year in the college in respective departements. Many national level institutes also participate in the college symposium and win prizes. The college library need another special mention. The library is completely air-conditioned and has a wide-range of books to refer. Many important international journal access are also available in the college. Sports is a big plus in the college. Many national level and state level sports meets are held in the campus and students are also encouraged to participate in it.

I chose this college because I am a resident of this city Salem and wanted to be a day-scholar. This college is also NAAC accredited with A+ grade and also stands as the higest graded government engineering colleges in the whole state of Tamil Nadu. The transport facility for reaching this college is also easy for me as there is availability of college bus which goes around the city to pick up the students i.e. the dayscholars all around the city. I didn't get any rejection from any other college because I got this college in my first round of counselling itself and so did not go for any other options and was not rejected by any. There is no entrance exam to get into the college. It is purely merit based and depends on the Anna University Counseling process.

The faculties in the institute are very friendly and are easily approachable. All the departments have enough staff members both regular and contractual. The laboratory staff are friendly and helpful. The exam scheme include- three internal tests for a semester which are named as series tests-1,2 and 3. Each exam will be for 50 marks and the cumulative marks will then be converted to 40 and will be added to the main semester results. There will also be tests called Tutorial tests for each semester whose marks will also be included in the final grade for the subject.

No such Group discussion or interview or written tests were conducted for the admission The admission process will be through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission process. Counseling will be conducted and seats will be allocated based on only merit

Girls hostel has a restriction that the girls should be in the hostel by 6 pm. But that rule does not apply for the boys hostel. Boys hostel is well maintained and hygienic. Late-night activities can include roaming around the beautiful campus and also outside as the college is situated in the Salem-Bangalore Highways . Places to unwind after classes include the canteen in the campus, playground and library as well There is a gym that is located closeby and cafeterias all outiside the campus as well.
