Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course keeps you up with time with major practical knowledge and teaching about the technology. It offers you to go out and interact with people via interviews, vox pops , etc. burden of assignments should be less , marking schemes should improve

Internships Opportunities

3

There is a internship fare known as Bennovate where different companies come to hire. Students can also be hired from Bennett Hatchery a startup club. The university maintains the relationship with other universities and companies to be in touch and be relevant. Roles for Advertising, marketing, Anchoring, reporter, writer are offered with known news and other companies

Placement Experience

2

Mentors are assigned for every student to discuss about their problems and placement issues, if there is an opportunity then students are updated and offer letters are also given if required. The highest package for mass communication is 1000000 and average is 500000. Not everyone is offered on campus placement, therefore students keep themselves updated through Linkedin and other intership platforms and apply for the same. Many other opportunities for volunteering are given.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fee structure is 5 lakhs i.e 2.5 lakhs per semester and this is inclusive of hostel fees i.e 1.5 lakhs yearly. Initially the hostel fees was 1.3 lakhs but from third semester it increased. 1.5 lakhs is for tripple sharing hostel. The university provides scholarship based on you percentage in top 4 major subjects. More percentage means more scholarship. The scholarship starts from 20 percent for percentage of 75 and goes till 100 percent but you have to maintain the CGPA of 7 (varies from year to year and course to course, it can be low or more for other course or different year) otherwise you will loose your scholarship. Seats are based on first come and first serve. Sometimes interviews are also held for admissions and scholarship for single girl child is also provided

Campus Life

4

The annual festival is known as Uphoria which is technically held between February and March. There are variety of books and journals provided in library for students. The books are also updated by the faculty whenever needed. There are smart boards in every class to make it easy to learn. The sports department is maintained properly with required equipments and all type of clubs like for western dance, classical dance, art club , gaming clubs, etc are there. Different societies are also there. The work load from club and society is very high and can increase during some fests or events which might effect student personal life

Hostel Facilities

4

The room for tripple sharing is provided with three beds, three almirah and three study tables. Acs and fan is also given. The room can be spacious and in double sharing everything is given same but room is more spacious and the quantity is for two people. The meal quality is good and menu is repeated regularly. New dishes are added very less. Hostel fees is not much high given the facilities. One must carry their own curtains and a girls common room is also given down the hostel foor girls to hangout and same in boys hostel. There are few indoor games like carom board and pools and there is no closing time for it

Admission

This college is associated with Times Group considering it a good college for a course like mass communication. I also applied for DU and IPU. I couldn't get in DU but was selected in Jagannath international management school. The elegiblity criteria to get admission in Bennett is to score atleast 55 percent in boards and few interview might be conducted. Proper counselling is done to get you in the college. No particular written exam is there to enter the university

Faculty

3

The faculty is sometimes friendly but partial at the same time. Helpful in every way and are approachable whenever needed. There are very less mid terms and end terms rather there are practical assignments like radio recordings , production works, interviews etc. If failed or debarred the students are asked to give supplementary exam along with the ongoing semester. The course is very relevant to course curriculum

Night Life

4

Few good stalls are open all night whereas few are closed in between 10 pm to 2 am. There are two gyms and in morning from 6:30-7:30 one Gym is reserved for girls and the closing time is around 10:30-11. Library and Learning Research Center(LRC) on normal days closes at 11 pm but on exam days it is 2 am. Campus in time is from 7pm to 10 pm and there are no hostel in timings. There is a Rangeela lounge open till 11 pm to hang out in college and after travelling for about 20 mins there is a market called Alpha 2 for hangout. It is generally safe to hangout till 9 pm because the area near University becomes deserted and quiet

Placement Experience:

80% students are placed through DME with a package of 5 LPA to 7 LPA on an average which is quite decent for a fresher entering the industry. The top recruiting are for placements are Bharat Express, PR Guru, Amar Ujala, Dynamite News, T.H.E.M.E.S. Over 90% of the students were placed for internship in Amar Ujala, PR Guru, Aaj Tak, ABP News and Doordarshan. Top roles offered are journalist, content writer, anchor, film maker, and back end roles like video editor, graphic designer and many more. I personally plan to go into video editing after getting the degree.

Placements of our colleges and mediocre. From 6th semester students become elegible for campus placement. The highest package offered was 6LPA and the average package is 3-4 LPA. Placement depends upon the students applying for placement through college. Many students gets internships or jobs by themselves before even reaching placement cell.

Students become eligible for placement during their final year of college. DME offers several different companies that it has tie ins with for placements to students such as Gadgets 360, Aaj Tak, Myntra, PTI and D&P. 70-80% students get a good placement package. My personal plan following graduation is to pursue my higher education in correspondence with employment.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself was nothing out of the ordinary material, it teaches you the basics of the field but the faculties were pretty good and helped us understand not just the basic but a little more so that we could actually be able to work in the environment once we get there. Also they organise workshops which was mandatory for all the students without any extra charge to learn from professional what to do and how to do it best. We also used to get projects which actually helped alot in learning with practice the theory.
