Remarks
All that which is said above defines what SIES CE as an institute holds up for future upcoming batches. The college has a little of space constraint which would be filled if the neighbouring ground is being taken under consideration by the college.
Course Curriculum Overview
BMS as a course is a unique course designed as it covers a lot of areas of study, be it Economics, Taxes, Law, Accounts, Finance, Marketing etc. The course curriculum is basically designed for first timers to get insights about the subject. Overall, there's a lot of learning to take from it but I believe the practical nature of study is still hindering. During the three years, what we have focused on it, study the concepts from exam point of view and this is what is being pressured upon everyone in all colleges. The practical part is left on to be taken care off by the corporates.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, our college has an internship and placement cell which provides internships. I had an opportunity to work wit Aditya Birla Payments Bank for a tenure of 4 months in the field of digital payments. Though, we did not receive stipend, but gaining experience and working for such a big conglomerate was our primary objective. Instead of paying us in cash, we were provided with vouchers for INR5000 Each as we ranked second amongst all other colleges.
Placement Experience
The placement and job opportunities still needs much work to be done. The opportunities do come but they do not sync with the subject of study. The placement cell is working in those areas and I, as a member of the placement committee also worked towards developing a mode, the results for which would be cherished by the students in the upcoming years.
College Events
The college gives a lot of importance to the culture, hence all the cultral events of South India are being celebrated. Apart from that the college also organizes Ganesh Utsav along with various college fests and departmental events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Since this is a self financing course, the fees is more than the aided courses. On comparing with the fees structures of other colleges, it is similar to all and not quite expensive. The focus of the institute has been to provide the best education at the lowest possible costs.
Fees and Financial Aid
I personally have not availed any scholarships offered by the institute but there are quite a few scholarships offered by the institute for the ones in need. I do not have complete knowledge of them but have heard about them in the college.
Campus Life
Extra curriculars are like the cherry on the cake which every student likes to be a part off and SIES does not let down it's students. They provide with leadership opportunities to students to set up college fests from scratch which is very much the same in every college. The labs are air conditioned with updates computer systems and softwares.
Hostel Facilities
The college does not provide any hostel infrastructure but the canteen facilities provided by the college has shown great signs of improvement after bringing to the notice of the management authorities.
Alumni/Alumna
Not aware about the alumni network whether it exists or not but the seniors are helpful. They do drop once in 2-3 months and share their experiences about the college and the industry trends. Maintaining a bond with the juniors is like one of their favourite things.
Exam Structure
The exam structure is quite the same as all other colleges, where roll no's and room no's are assigned to the students with the timing of the exams. The examination classrooms have CCTV cameras which are being monitored in the control for the duration of the exams. One thing what SIES has which is different from other colleges is that for each exam, we use to get a different class room, which leaves out the chance of writing on the benches for the next papers :P
Admission
Since I appeared my HSC exams in Science stream scoring 58.30% , for the first year BMS, i was being denied of a seat for low scores. I had a goal about being a part of this college because I have seen my elder brother being groomed from this very institute. So, I did my FY from Sathaye College, Vile Parle and made efforts to score well in both the semesters and with god's grace and my efforts, I managed to get god scores. Without any second thought, I decided to change my college to SIES and filled the form. The merit list for second year highlighted my name. The process for changing of college asked me to get an NOC, Eligibility, and other specified documents from my previous college. After having done so, I had to fill the Application form which was complete online. Once this was done, I was officially a student of SIES College of Commerce and Economics.
Faculty
The faculty of the college are quite innovative in their approach towards dealing with the subjects. There's a mix of both teachers having experience of 15 odd years as with one's who are new and fresh to the field with loads and tonnes of information. Faculty at this college are accessible to students and they connect very well with everyone. The concept of favouritism is kept outside the classroom doors and thoughtful information and doubts are always encouraged.
