Review of B J Medical College

BJ medical college is one of the best and is considered prestigious institution of the country. The alumni of the college are one of the best doctors. It is associated to Civil Hospital Ahmedabad (third largest hospital in world).

MBBS is a 5.5 year long course and the pillar of doctor. There are 19 subjects + one year of internship. The 1styear is of 1 year, second year is of 1.5 year and third year is of 2 years + one year of internship. University conducts exams at the end of year. There is no semester system. College conducts term exams every 6 month and preliminary exams before university exam.

A compulsory internship of one year is to be done in Civil hospital Ahemdabad (one of the largest hospital in world) The stiped provided varies every year with new reforms being introduced by the governmemt. Currently the stipend offered is 15000/month. Internship is hectic and provides exposure to huge number of patient. Patient from across the country come to civil hospital and so we get the opportunity to witness rare cases being solved and miracles of doctors.

Annual fest BJBeats - the fest of our college is one of the largest medical fest in western zone. Its a four day four night event. Various celebrity (Benny Dayal, Salim Merchant, KK, Sachin - Jigar etc) have been a part of the fest. There is a garba night, fashion night, celebrity night and a cultural night . BJ Concourse - annual conference of Bj medical college. It attracts student from all over the Gujarat. Its a two day conference event witnessing some of the alumnus as well as one of the best doctors of the country.

Fees are feasible. It has been increased to 25000/- per year. Thus total fees of MBBS is approx 100000/-. Its still one of the cheapest medical college fees as compared to other colleges. Fees are to be paid directly via cheque/net banking/dd.

Fees are feasible and easy to pay, and as such everyone is able to afford it. No loan facility is available from college. But numerous schemes and scholarships are available to economically backward students. College provides free books to such students.

Cricket ground, badminton court, basketball court and ring and a common room for indoor games like carrom, chess, table tennis is available to the students. Labs are one of the best and have modern facilities. They are spacious and can accomodate 100+ students and have good ventilation as well as fire safety facility.

Hostel are one of the best among medical college. They are clean and have proper water, electricity and sanitation facilities. Water and electricity is available 24*7. The hostel campus has concrete roads, and lots of trees. Hostel have 2 canteens and a separate mess handles by students. Laundry facilities are available in Hostel Campus. No wifi facilty is available. You can make any changes in your hostel room as per required. Solar operated geysers are present. Water colour for each separate hostel building.

Alumni of the college are helpful and an Alumni association (B J Medical College Alumni Association) is also made who help students with their studies, any sort of difficulties faced by them during the course. Seniors are helpful and guide us throughout the course of 5.5 years.

MCI conducts a common entrance exam Nation Eligibility cum Entrance Test - NEET. On the basis of marks scored in NEET, a merit list of state is being prepared followed by choice filling of seats, mop up rounds and lastly seats are alloted.

BJ Medical College has one of the finest faculty across India. Anatomy and Pharmacology are one of the best departments. Faculty are kind and helpful, and also encourage students for co curricular activities. They also help in Research programs/quizzes.
