IIIT ranchi: My experience

The curriculum is very industry focused, as it barely dwells into useless subjects outside our course. The subjects tought to us in yr 1 include CSE (programming and fundamental), EDC, Maths, Human Ethics and Physics (includes AC currents, Transformers, etc.).

Companies that offers internships in our college include G-Shock, NVEDIA, Google, etc. I have no experience in internships as I am not eledgible for an internship. You need to be a 2nd year to apply for an internship.

After 4th semester (from 3rd year) you are eledgible to apply for in-campus placements. The companies which have come for placements are Nvedia, Google, Amazon, G shock, etc. 80% of the people who have applied for placements are accepted, with an average package of 13 lakhs with the highest being 83 lakhs.

As of now my tution fees is 2 lakhs, caution fees is 10 thousand, registration fees is 5 thousand, admission fees is 85 thousand, which sums upto 3 lakhs for this year. Students in reservation have scolarships which reduce their amount by 2 lakhs.

The annual tech fest (celestio) is held between every January to February. There are a wide number of books available for us to aid in academics, and some for non-academics. There are projectors in each classroom. The passion and support for sports is very much, which is unfortunately paired with lack of basic equipment and practice fields. The Technical society is very interractive and provides us with resources, support and weekly activities to those who want to do them.

There is appropriate ventilation (varendah , fan, etc.) in rooms, which is very spacious. You can easily acomodate a third person (or fourth in some rooms) on our rooms, which holds two people. The meal quality is what you would expect in any hostel, which is not that good. The registration for college and hostel was combined.

I had applied to LNMIIT and my seat was confirmed in it, but I opted for this college because the placements was a lot better in this college. I got a rejection from BIT mesra, CSE as I didn't get the appropriate rank in JEE mains. The admission process was very straight forward. I had to give JEE mains exam and I got a certain rank (about 36k). The cutoff for my college was 50k (for Electronics, IOT branch) to 28k (for CSE core). The experience for preperation for this exam was very memorable.

There are 8 professors for each section, which consists of 60 students. The professors are great in their respective fields, and are very friendly. Our EDC professor was of great help to me, as he would explain everything very patiently and in detail. He also helped us in improving our mental health. There are almost no professors I hate, as all of them are very friendly and care about their students. The exams are slightly on the harder side, but you ccan get a decent GPA (around 8 GPA) by studying 1-2 hrs everyday.

The local gym is very convenient with appropriate equipments, There is no opening or closing time. The students are expected to be in their hostels before 10:00 and for girls the timing is 9:00. The locality is very safe within the campus. It is common to see people roam around and play at night.
