THE LIFE AT DAV COLLEGE

DAV is considered as the best institute for Bcom under Panjab University. Being from commerce background Bcom is considered to be one of the common degree to pursue.As Bcom provides various options in many fields like Financial analyst , Tax auditor etc Bcom degree is the first step to enter into accounting firms , Business and various MNC's. course provides us the basic knowledge of business world but it lacks real life experience like industrial visit and internship opportunities. Mid sems are easy to moderate level as they are conducted to see our prepration for the finals.

We do have a training and placement cell which is run mostly run by both students and teachers. Students with good percentile can sit for placements and can get place into companies which are mostly from BPO and sales background. Students are eligible for campus placements in their 5th semester. Companies which have came in our college in 2024-2025 are Sri ram insurance , Kotak insurance , Planet spark , De shaw , Zomato etc. Highest package offered is around 5 LPA and average package is around 1.5 LPA. I have planned to go for higher studies after my graduation, most probably I will be doing MBA.

The fees for Bcom per year is around 33000 per year which adds up to 100000rs for whole degree. along with that examination fees of Rs. 3000 is paid for every semester. Yes scholarships are available in our college for students in sports , EWS, SC ,ST and batch toppers but scholarships can be availed by few people under above criteria. registration fees is also paid of about 800 per year and an additional fees of Rs 300 is charged per year for college fest.

overall Dav is a good college for studies as well as extra curricullar activites. It provides vibrant campus life as students from different culture are coming together and we get to know about their culture by interacting with them and seeing their dance forms. KAARVAN is a 3day cultural fest which is organized every year in our college around march where various regional singers come and perform. The library is one of the best places to be in our college and study. college also provides access to highspeed wifi throughout campus. it also has smart classrooms for students , Labs for BCA students , 3 canteens and various social clubs.

As DAV is ranked one of the best instituions in north region for Bcom degree. As I have done my schooling from chandigarh only getting a college in chandigarh was the best option for me and I had heard about DAV a lot as it offers good studies with extra co curricular activites like NCC, NSS and many other societies. Those people who want to study for competitive exams they can prepare for that as there is not much strictness regarding your attendance as teachers understand you and are lenient with your internals and you can move on with a little fine,

the teachers are very helpful and approachable. They do understand our problems and provide solutions accordingly. They are even willing to help us by going out of the way. Some teachers have also written their own books. The teachers of Incometax is very good so is for the GST. most of the them are PHD and have excelled in their field. They make the classroom engagable and very fun to study. Overall faculty is one of the best for this course. Before every semester exams mid semester tests are conducted where half syllabus is given in those exams. We even get assignments and presentations for our assesment.

there is not much nightlife in our college as for girls hostel timmings are till 8:00 PM where as for boys it is till 10:00 PM. There is gym for both boys and girls, A private shooting range , cricket ground , basketball court , volleyball court etc. college has a very good 3 floor library which gives students access to various old and new books outside their curicullum. Palm garden , umbrella garden and basketball court are the famous hangout places in our college.
