Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum is well-structured and covers both core and elective subjects that match current industry needs. Subjects like Data Structures, Python, and Web Development were key reasons I chose this course. It prepares students for real-world applications and internships. However, more focus on hands-on projects and emerging technologies like AI and Data Analytics could improve it further. Exams are conducted on time and are moderately challenging. Overall, the curriculum is relevant and helps in academic and career growth.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure at Mahendra Engineering College is moderate and varies slightly depending on the course and category of admission. Year-wise Fee (for B.E./B.Tech CSE - General Category): 1st Year: ?90,000 2nd Year: ?85,000 3rd Year: ?85,000 4th Year: ?85,000 Total for the entire course: ?3,45,000 (approx.) Breakup (for each year): Tuition Fee: ?70,000 Admission Fee: ?5,000 (only in the first year) Development/Lab Fee: ?10,000 Caution Deposit: ?5,000 (refundable) Miscellaneous/Exam Fee: ?5,000 approx. Fee Pattern: The fee remains fairly consistent across the years, with only minor increases, if any. Students admitted under the management quota may have slightly higher fees. Scholarships Available: 1. First Graduate Scholarship – ?25,000 (for eligible students). 2. Government Scholarships – For SC/ST and OBC students (up to ?50,000 per year depending on income). 3. Merit-based Scholarship – Given to students who secure top ranks in the semester. 4. Private Scholarships – Some NGOs offer aid to deserving students. Many of my batchmates received the First Graduate or SC/ST government scholarships, significantly reducing their fee burden. Overall, Mahendra Engineering College offers fair fee structures with good financial support options.

Campus Life

5

My campus life has been vibrant and enriching. The college organizes annual cultural fest “Spring Fest” every March and technical symposiums by various departments. As a member of the NSS club, I’ve participated in blood donation camps, job fairs, and awareness programs, which helped me grow socially and develop leadership skills. The library is well-stocked with books and journals, and we also have digital resources. Classrooms are smart-enabled, and the labs are equipped with updated technology. We have good sports facilities and interdepartmental events are conducted often. The GeeksforGeeks Campus Mantri program also adds to my technical involvement. The infrastructure is clean and well-maintained, with Wi-Fi and spacious study areas, making the campus life both fun and productive.

Hostel Facilities

5

The hostel rooms are furnished with a bed, study table, chair, and cupboard. They have attached bathrooms with running water and 24/7 electricity. Wi-Fi is available throughout. The meal quality is good, with a variety of dishes including local and North Indian cuisine served thrice daily. Special dietary needs are usually accommodated. Hostel registration requires submitting academic documents and a security deposit, with fees being affordable and payable monthly or semester-wise. For rented PG accommodation, rooms are mostly located within 2-3 km of campus in safe localities with easy access to markets and transport, making it convenient for students.

Admission

I chose this college over others like XYZ College and ABC Institute mainly because of its strong placement record, affordable fee structure, and experienced faculty. The college also provides excellent infrastructure and industry-oriented programs. The admission process was smooth and based on +2 marks and TNEA counseling, without any entrance test. I received admission confirmation after document verification and counseling. I didn't face any rejections from other colleges, but I felt this college aligned better with my career goals in computer science and offered more opportunities for internships and skill development.

Faculty

5

The faculty-to-student ratio is balanced, and most professors are friendly and approachable. Some standout faculty members are experts in their subjects and provide good mentorship. A few, however, lack interactive teaching. The curriculum is relevant with a good mix of theory and practicals. Exams are conducted semester-wise and include internals and externals. While exams are moderate in difficulty, proper preparation ensures success. The marking is fair, and transparency is maintained. Overall, the course structure supports academic and skill development well.

Night Life

5

The nightlife around Mahendra Engineering College is quite calm and safe. The hostel curfew is around 8:30 PM, and students are expected to be back by then. The college campus has a gym and a cafeteria that usually closes by 7:30 PM. The library stays open until the evening, offering a quiet space for study. Though there aren't many late-night activities inside campus, students usually unwind in hostel common areas, play indoor games, or have group discussions. Outside the campus, there are a few tea shops and eateries nearby that remain open until 9 PM. The locality is peaceful and generally safe, but students prefer staying inside after dark due to limited public movement. Overall, while nightlife is limited, the environment is secure and focused on academics.

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.
