What Students Say
Likes
- the teachers were the best you would be getting from our college
- fee structure was fair in comparison to other universities
- there are sports quota for a good athlete
Dislikes
- the exam structure was very bad there was a time in my 2nd year were I had to write 3 semster exams almost closely only having a 2 month gap for each exam
- if you have a supply in any semester and if you give revaluation for the paper then the result will only come on the same day or day before you are writing your supplementary examinations
- the result of your final year comes faster than the time allotted for revaluation
Course Curriculum Overview
For me, as a maths graduate, the curriculum was good, but if you are looking to change your background to computer science, there are some issues with the curriculum, and there is less technical advantage and fewer real-world applications, but if you are continuing in pure mathematics, it will be good but even that's needs a little bit modification and include real life examples and problems for more understanding of the courses and further studies
Placement Experience
In our college, there were placements, but it was fewer than the time before COVID-19, and many of the students planned to continue their studies after their graduation. So the companies were fewer for our college, but some of the prominent companies that came to our college were Infopark, Mathlab and Tata, etc, and more startups. Mathlab's placement interview was mainly for math graduates with a bit of knowledge about computers. If not, there is no worry because only after 6 months of training will we be placed, so we can learn in the training sessions. And one of the most important things was whether the students wanted to continue their studies. There was a course provided by the company, so we could work, and on weekends, we could take the course, which helped us in our promotions. For me, I am planning to continue my studies silently.ie, I am preparing for my post-graduation in another field following the same base.
Fees and Financial Aid
I should be telling you about the course in our college, the fees were low because the course was aided. It was around 3000 -5000 per year for tuition fees and all other small expenses we will be paying to the college. But at the time of the admission, we will be paying around 1500 to the university and 5000 to the college for our 3 years. I think it was the same for other-aided courses in our college and for others which are of self-financing, it was aroun15000-20000 per semester, including all the fees. For OBC and SC/ST, there are scholarships provided, which will be helpful at the time of our exam fee payment. And there are scholarships provided each year, per financial background and based on their studies in each subject. But we have to pay unnecessary fees to the department in our college . I think it was only the issue of the college.
Campus Life
There are fests and programmes conducted in our college almost every month, even small ones. But most of the time, we were not able to participate in those because of the workload and studies, and we have special classes almost every day, even on some of the second Saturdays. To talk about the library, we have a wide range of English literature books, but we lack technical books and skill development /entrance preparation books. But there is an E library where we could get the previous year's question papers. For me, my colleague's English department played a big role in developing my language and engaging me to take part in public speaking. So it was a good experience for me on my part. There are various programmes and clubs we could attend after the classes and various activities, but we couldn't attend them without taking a break during class hours.
Admission
In the first admission procedure, I was allotted to my 5th option, where I graduated. For BSc programmes of regular courses, you will almost get admitted to your most preferred one. I didn't change from this college, which was likely because of me, getting along with my new friends. But truth to be told, if they were not there, I wouldn't have studied there. I would have preferred more colleges with better career opportunities and options. In my suggestion for better opportunities, better opt for an autonomous college, as they are best for both, except some will give you an infinite amount of freedom that will affect your studies. So choose carefully. There are no special exams for the admission procedure. For UG, we will get admitted based on our plus two scores and bonus points based on NSS, NCC, SPC, etc and sports quotas And if you want to get into the main campus, ie, the university, then there are exams like CAT for pg courses and KEAM for almost all colleges in kerala for B.tech and JEE is also acceptable. The CUET scores are also acceptable in some colleges ,check before you take admission because their admission is not at the same time as others.
Faculty
For the BSc programmes, the ratio of the faculty to students was almost equal in each batch for middle-tier colleges under the university, as the students are after professional courses. But for the top tier, some remained the same as in the previous years, but some didn't. The teachers are the best, even for the average student like me. They will be willing to help you prepare for your upcoming entrance shouldn't be their concern. They are the best in only teaching and supporting, but when there are any art programs or fests, we have to take extra time for the fests, as we already have classes starting from morning to evening, with other special classes even on second Saturdays. And to talk about the exams in almost all the semesters, they are good. We could even get pass marks just by studying previous year's question papers. But some semester exams were like we couldn't imagine the intensity of the exams that have been given to me till now. The syllabus is almost like going towards infinity, as we are only having almost a 3-month gap between each exam.
Interview Experience
No, there was no test or group discussion or interview for me, just the allotment process by Plustwo scores. The allotment process is a bit too long. The process is divided into 3 sessions, ie, mainly 3 allotments from 1 registration process. And even after that, you didn't get the admission, and there is still a supplement allotment with 3 sections itself, only if the seats are too less they will interview the colleges.
Night Life
In our college, there was a gym, but the working facilities were poor, as most of the machines were not working well. There is a good, clean cafeteria with friendly and good service. But there are only some snack items, and there are special meals like biriyani only on special days, like in our college, it was every Wednesday. And the most important thing is that they would even act as a catering service on our orders for any special functions in our college. The college library opens at 9:00 am. At that time, we will be having our morning class and which closes at 4:30, and we have a special class till 5:00 pm. But if you are free, it will be a good spot for your studies, and we can do our projects in libraries, as there is free WIFI and laptops/computers allotted in the library itself. To tell the truth, there are only a few hangout places in the college. But there are many places to hang out near the college if you are willing to travel some distance from the college.
Other Applied Colleges
Delhi University - [DU] | Master of Computer Applications [M.C.A]
Because my parents didn't allow me to travel a long distance to study and at that time my knowledge about DU was not that much.
