NIT TRICHY- COLLEGE REVIEW

I personally don't like the metallurgical and materials science engineering course i just choose this course because of the college. The curriculum of this course is old even the professors say this that this the same stuff they used to learn when they were doing the b.tech and the same thing they are teaching us so the curriculum ain't that great. It does'nt really prepare anyone for real world applications for that we have to learn from our own and study for placements and internships to get an experience of the real world then only we will be able to have a job with us. The areas of improvememt may include many things such has updating the curriculum with the latest technologies which are available in the market, more stress should be given on labs not on time wasting theroy classes the timings of exams are good only there is noting bad in them

There are a lot of companies coming for the internship oppurtunties like Google, Microsoft, NIVIDIA, Qualcom and Samsung and many more. They offer internship oppurtunities to students with stipends with as high as 2lakhs per month. Most of the money is given by management companies.

The placements are the best part of this college. This college provides a very good placements both on and off campus to its students the placement percentage is also very good for all the branches ofcourse the placement packages are higher for students of CSE AND ECE branches but others also get a very good package. Students get eligible for placements from the 4th year some even get a PPO from the company they do their intership at in the third year. Big and Prominent comapnies visit our college such as Google, Microsoft, Samsung, Tata Steel, Qualcom, NVIDIA and more recently they gave around 900 offers to the students the highest package was aroung 65 lpa and the average package stood at 16 lpa for the college which is very good as compared to other colleges. The student placement percentage is also very good where aroung 85-90 percent of the students gets placed evey year in defferent sectors like software, Data Science, Management and Core sectors of their branch.

At NIT Tichy, the one time fees i paid was 26,500 at the time of admission and a tution fees of 62500 per semester there are various financial aids available like nsp scholaship and income based fee remission for example the students with family income less than 5lpa they pay around 33% of the tution fees and with students with family income of less than 1lpa they pay 0 tution fees moreover for categories like sc,st and pwd the tution fees is 0 irrespective of the family income the hostel and mess fees combined keeps on changing year by year this year i paid around 48,500 for this odd semester last year i paid around 90,000 for the enitre year which has all the hostel and mess charges most of my batchmates are availiing this income based fee remmision in which they are paying either 0 or 33%(20,666) tutuion fees which is very beneficial for them. Some of the studens are also on scholarship like the nsp scholarship or the scholapship provided by airtel or their state scholarship some of them are studying on loans as well. Every odd semester they take the charges of development fees, lab fees and the other compulsory fees which adds upto 25000 along the 62500 tution fees so the 25000 fees every student has to pay irrespective of the caste or income.

The overall campus life of this college is very good the campus is very large we have a lot to explore and find out. There are a lot of fests conducted throughout the year like Festember, Pragyan, NITTFEST and Sportsfete. Festemeber is the annual fest typically held in the month of september and pragran is the techincal fest held in the month of february while NITTFEST is the cultural fest held in the month of march and sportsfete is the sportsfest held in the month of august or september. If we talk about the books and journals available in the library they are easily accessbile to all the students and the professors the classrooms has high quality projectors and spearkers and teachcers use microphone to deleiver their lecture. There are a lot of sports available in the campus every one can play any sport they want to play or join their team to practise daily and compete with other colleges. There are a lot of clubs available in the college to take part and improve our personality and gives a good chance to grow

The faciliities provided the in the room include a table chair almirah and a bed. The mess food is okay okay not so good but one will get used to it Feast is conducted once a month where they try to make good food. The registration process for the hostel is done at the time of the admission then one has to register on SB collect every semester. The locality will be good only even if someone rented a room or a PG near to the college because of the students live nearby in the PG itself.

From my JEE MAINS result i could have got any college in the country except the IITs and BITS i didn't applied to any other college other than this because i was clear that i want to go to the best NIT of the country which is NIT Trichy. I would have got a seat in any NIT of the country but choose to go with this one because of the rank and placement staticstics of this college and the peer group is also very smart and innovative. I qualified JEE ADVANCED but could'nt secure a good rank to secure a seat in any of the IIT so i think that went wrong for me the admission process was through the JOSSA counselling and CSAB counselling , the exam which is needed to be qualified is the JEE MAINS exam for the B.TECH course. Your rank decided the course you will get in the college the cutoff for general male candidate of other state which i am is around 20-25k rank to get into this college you will get a branch like MME OR PRODUCITON at this rank

The faculty members of this college are like that of all the colleges some of them are very good but some of them are here just to read the ppt and time pass you really have to study yourself for all the exams and labs the faculty to student ratio is not that good as most of the students don't go to faculty to clear their doubts so they clear their doubts by themselves. In the first year first semeseter the teachers were nice not all but most of them were nice espesially Dr. Kathik who taught us chemisty he used to teach without any ppt and some of the teachers just come and start reading the ppt i can't take the names of the teachers who i don't like due to obvious reasons they are at high posts. About the exams there are 3 exams conducted in the entire semester first one this CT1 then CT2 and then END SEM exams CT1 and CT2 are easy only which anyone can score good just by studying 1 or 2 days before the exam but for end sem exams one needs to start studying almost 10-15 days earlier because it consists of the entire syllabus apart of them we also have lab exams where we have to perform the experiment and answer the questions related to lab they mostly occur at the end of the semester.

Most of the things gets close at around 11pm and the sports complex gets closed at around 9 pm similar is the library it gets closed by 9pm also. For the girls the in time is 9 pm and for the first year boys the in time is 9:30 pm for rest of the boys there is not in time they can roam inside the campus there are a few shops open till around 1-2 am where boys can go and have some snacks for their midnight cravings. There really aren't any good places inside the campus to hangout but outside there is Thanjavur Temple and Srirangam temple where one can go they are very good places to visit and have fun with friends moreover there are cinema halls available in trichy where we can go with our friends to watch movies sometimes and chill
