Course Curriculum Overview

3

•I chose this course mainly because the curriculum and the syllabus is structured to give a solid understanding of fundamentals. Also, under GTU, the curriculum is well recognized so it felt like a safe and standard choice. •Very few subjects match current industry tools, software and technologies. You learn the concepts, but you have to learn the real-world tools on your own outside college. •Many subjects feel like they are in past 5-10 years. More modern technologies and tools should be included. Labs need better and modern equipment. Very few hands-on workshops and internships. •Mid-sem exams are once per semester and easier to handle.GTU final exams are moderate in difficulty.

Internships Opportunities

3

•Students interned at companies like ArguSoft India Ltd., eInfochips Ltd., Tatva Soft, Bacancy Technology Pvt. Ltd. and others. Roles include software engineer intern, web developer intern, data analyst intern, and embedded systems intern. While exact stipend amounts aren’t publicly specified. •Under the institute’s innovation cell (E-Cell/SSIP) a student project titled “Smart Home and Office Automation” had budget around ?1,00,000/- and aimed to build automation hardware and interface it with IoT.

Fees and Financial Aid

•Fees for engineering courses per year is ?1500/- •Tution fee is ?1500/-, and other fees like for example form may vary between ?800/- to ?1000, there is I-card fee also, which is around ?150/- and for registration on STS portal of college is around ?100/- •Fees for all students are same. •There are many scholarship available on digital gujarat website. Student can apply for scholarship as per their cast.

Campus Life

4

•As a student of VGEC, I have experienced the academic structure, activities, and facilities closely. The technical and cultural environment here is active throughout the year. The college conducts departmental technical festivals such as Chemotsav and other tech-oriented events around March–April, while cultural programs like Vishwa Sanskruti are usually held in April–May. Social events like Joy of Giving take place around October. •The library has a decent collection of core engineering books, reference materials, and some journals. E-resources and digital access are available. •Some classrooms are equipped with projectors while others are still with blackboard. They even don't have white board. Most departments have maintained laboratories. While basic technology is available. •The campus supports wide range of sports including volleyball, basketball, football, badminton, cricket, and table tennis etc. Several students run clubs on campus like IEEE, GDSC, AdvaNature, and student chapters under IEI. These clubs have a strong positive impact.

Hostel Facilities

2

•Rooms are simple but sufficient. Each student gets a bed, study table, chair, cupboard, and fan. Washrooms are shared though maintenance can be slow at times. There's no any other facilities. Hygiene is not maintained in the hostel. •The mess food is average. Quality is fine on most days but menu is repetitive- mainly dal, rice, roti, sabzi. Sometimes paneer sabzi. Hygiene is decent, but taste could be improved. Prices are quietly higher according to quality and quantity. •The registration process in hostel is easy- fill the form, submit ID proofs, and pay the hostel fees. The total fee per semester is around ?1200/- to ?1300/-. Living costs may vary. Mess fees are not included in hostel fees. It's like when you want to eat, pay and take token. •The college is in Chandkheda. Many students also rent rooms or PGs nearby in New C.G. road or Motera. The locality is safe even at night, with food outlets and transport easily available.

Admission

• I have applied in LD college, VGEC and karnavati university(for backup). In first round i got admission in karnavati university but I waited for second round and got admission in VGEC. I chose VGEC because it's 2nd best government college in allover Gujarat and allover very good than any other private or government college. •I also got rejection from LD college because of merit. At that time merit was very high so I didn't make it there. •Admission process is very simple. You can apply for admission online through ACPC website. Every student who has completed 12th science(PCM) or completed diploma can apply for admission. There is no exam to take admission. And cutoff may vary every year. It depends on every year's result of 12th science.

Faculty

3

•The faculty-to-student ratio at VGEC is generally manageable. Many faculties are approachable. Students can freely discuss academic problems. Some faculties actively check on student's progress, which creates a friendly learning environment. •I particularly liked few faculties of my IC department who explains concepts with real-life examples and ensures that every student understood the basics. (I can't specify names for some reasons) •There are few faculties whose teaching methods feels very fast and more theory based, which makes it difficult to understand some topics. Sometimes classroom interaction is limited, so it is challenging to clear doubts during lectures. •VGEC follows GTU guidelines, so every semester includes: Mid-sem exam(30 marks), 30 marks of Internal Assessment, Assignments, Viva, Practical exams and GTU final exam. The difficulty level is moderate. If students study regularly, most exams are manageable. GTU papers focus mainly on understanding and basic problem-solving. Students who attend lectures and practice PYQs are usually clear exams comfortably. The number of students who fail varies by branch and subject, but generally core subjects like Maths or Electrical subjects have higher failure rate. Overall, most students clear exams, and fails usually only when students do not regularly study or attend lectures. •The curriculum is moderately relevant. Core engineering fundamentals are covered well, and some subjects give exposure to industry trends. However, certain topics feel outdated and could be upgraded to match modern technology.

Night Life

5

•After college ends, the go-to hangout spots are the hostel common room, the lawn between departments, and the canteen. The gtu hostel gym and TV room are used in the evening. The gtu hostel gym is open until 8-9 pm for hostelites. According to hostel rules, girls must be back in by 8:00pm and boys by 10:00pm. The library timing is around 8am to 6pm. •The lawn area outside the main academic blocks are famous sitting with friends, chatting, playing music or fresh air after class. In the hostel room for table tennis. Off-campus, near Chandkheda, students sometimes head to nearby cafes. The locality around the campus is quite safe. There are guards on campus, hostell, but walking alone late at night off-campus is also very good feeling.

From last two years there was 100% placements but usually its 90%. I plan to pursue pg after this degree in either mtech or mba.
