What Students Say
Likes
- I really admired the faculty at DME. Very knowledgeable, wise, and helpful.
- There are several student societies that do amazing work.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum back then was not up to date, per se. As the syllabus that the University at large was following in all of its colleges was from 2014, and even though most of the subjects were relevant, there were modern aspects in some subjects that would have been better taught if only the syllabus was updated. Irrespective of that, the college did a pretty good job in imparting the best knowledge possible, as the teachers themselves took the liberty to encourage students to follow the recent updates and also took the time to explain the latest developments for imparting the best possible knowledge.
Internships Opportunities
At DME, students could intern with 1. Litigation Firms 2. Litigation Chambers/Advocates 3. Corporate Firms 4. NGOs 5. Government Institutions 6. Judicial and Quas-Judicial Bodies 7. Judges You can seek the college's help for securing these internships.
Placement Experience
DME has a Placement-Cell of its own, and its sole purpose is to bring placements for students at DME. Back when I was a student there, the Placement Cell brought good firms for the placement drive. Unfortunately, I am not sure what the highest package was at the time.
Fees and Financial Aid
During my first year, I had paid almost Rs. 95,000/- in fees. The first-year fee is always high because there are several one-time fees that need to be paid, such as the library fee, security deposit, etc. Other than that, internships are something that students can primarily opt for themselves; if not, then they can surely take help from the college's placement cell, which would, in fact, help in securing internships.
Campus Life
My campus life was amazing. Having met extraordinary minds there really widened my scope of understanding both law and human behaviour. My teachers and fellow students were great and having exposure to multiple student societies and college events really helped me become a better person. The college had organised my events where the students got international exposure by having the opportunity to connect with speakers from across the globe through these conventions and symposiums. And, of course, we had the privilege of Senior Advocates and Judges who visited our campus now and then for many events.
Admission
I was certain that I wanted to study in Delhi itself, and GGSIPU was the best there is when it came to providing integrated law courses. And I chose DME for 2 reasons, 1. It was one of the only three colleges of GGSIPU that provided an integrated law course for almost a decade, whereas most of its counterparts under GGSIPU started the integrated law course in 2017 only. 2. It was convenient for me to travel to DME.
Faculty
The faculty at DME is its strongest pillar. The teachers were really knowledgeable, approachable, and friendly. They did not restrict teaching to textbook explanations and encouraged group discussions and debate-oriented approaches, where students could come together to discuss and learn in a better environment. To name only a handful of faculties to praise them would be unjust because majority of the faculties were really good, however, personally, Mr. Abhishek Dwivedy, Ms. Savitha, Ms. Randhawa, Mr. Bhavesh, are a handful of the best I came across during my time at DME.
Night Life
The nightlife was not exactly a thing at DME as the college within its campus does not have any hostel, so once the classes concluded for the day, everyone left for their homes or PGs/Hostels. However, even after classes ended, students had the oppurtunity to stay back for some time in order to take part in society activities and to study at the library, for those purposes the students could stay back even after classes.
