What Students Say
Likes
- The best thing about our college is i can say is placements . They are really great. U will get many comapnies on different domains .
- Culture of varanasi , though it totally depend on people some like this culture , some dont . There are many ghaats and temples to roam .
- In most of the branches u will get good teacher who are well qualified in their domain and also friendly . Some exception are really there.
Dislikes
- Infrastructure is not upto expectation . a lot of building are old . Lot of development is going on but still it will take a lot of time to change completely .
- Open campus is sometime bit problematic for students of IIT .
Course Curriculum Overview
My course is Mining and we have labs and lectures for our core subjects . Course strucutre are well structured and designed according to needs . Abt real world applications i will say , courses should update new technolgoies and their applications and usage . Exams are usually same as of other subjects (i.e mid sem and end sem)
Internships Opportunities
TBH getting internship are quite tough for core branches , 443 paid internship have been offered this year mostly of them was for SDE roles , quant firms . Many big comapnies offered like Graviton , Databricks,DE shaw , google , amazon , microsoft , adobe and a lot more . Most of these comapnies prefer circuital branches .
Placement Experience
Placements are quite good here . Generally most of the comapnies that come here are for SDE roles but also many for consulting and DS roles . Students generally dont prefer the core roles so there are less companies visit for core jobs . Talking abt my course the highest package was 51 lakh by microsoft and the average was around 18 lakh . For the aollege highest package was around 1.6 cr. Around 1000 offers have been given for 252 profiles . In this 280 offers were PPO for final year student. Average CTC for whole college was 29.23 LPA. Around 80 percent of students get placed . Some people go for higher studies , some go for civil services .
Fees and Financial Aid
I am currently paying 2.4 lakh per year . It includes academic , hostel fee and also some other fee like examination fee , festival and many other small fee. Mess fee usually occurs around 16.5k per semester. Since i am above 5 lakh income slab so i have to pay full fee otherwise there are many fee waiver schemes . For students less than 5 lakh and more than 1 lakh they have to pay only 1/3rd of the fee and peeps less than 1 lakh income they dont have to pay academic fee but have to pay mess and some small fee. SC/St students also have same waiver schemes as of <1lakh doesnt matter the income of their household . There are many scholarship schemes like NSP , IIT BHU foundation and a lot more .
Campus Life
We have 3 major fests . SPARDHA - sports fest( around october) , KASHIYATRA - cultural fest(around FEB) , TECHNEX- Techfest(MARCH) . There is a library SD library and it has almost every academic book and also some literature and other domains books . Sports activities are quite good here , there are 3 grounds and also a SAC(student activity centre) so games from indoor sports to crickets , hockey eveyrything u gonna find here . Many type of clubs exist here cultutral club , E-cell , Buisness club ,COPS and many others . Personally according to me campus life is good .
Hostel Facilities
Some of the hostels are good like PC ray , satish dhawan and DG , other than these all have old infra . For first year we got a room shared by 3 people , which contains two cupboard , 3 tables , chairs , bad . Meals are okayish , unlike other college , it is better in terms of food . Everyone here naturally opt for hostel but some lives in outside PG .
Admission
At the time of counselling i was confused between IIIT nagpur CSE and here . But then i checked on many parameters .. IIIT dont have well developed infra and usually are in outskirts of city . Bcz they are being recently built so placements and permanent campus and accomodation is also a problem there . Thats why i chose IIT BHU . I gave jee mains then jee advanced and by the jossa couselling i got a seat here .
Faculty
The ratio of faculty to student is generally 1:120 and each teacher have 3 TA's (in tutorial class and quiz). MOst of them are approachable and encourage you to ask them more . We have 2 exams in a semester , one mid sem and one end sem along with some labs and assignments . Exams are usually upto standards , if u are consistent u gonna do very well , or else one week also gonna save u ;) . Some subjects are tough specially mechanical subjects , e.g Engineering mechanics is a course in first sem and in my class around 40 students got failed in that . Course structures are well planned just like other IITs.
Night Life
As our college have open campus so u gonna miss nightlife here . There are barricades for outer vehicles after 10 but nothing much to explore so nightlife is pretty boring here . Hostel timing are strict for first years (i.e 10 pm) , that only for 1st sem ;) .
Other Applied Colleges
Indian Institute of Information Technology - [IIIT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Campus is not yet developed and less extra curricular course activities.
