Remarks
Positives: Good faculty. Good infrastructure. Encourages extracurricular activities. Negatives : Bad canteen, cafeteria Bad placements. Expensive college fee, when compared to other colleges in the same area.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum they had when I joined was pretty outdated. I joined JSS in 2014, at that time they followed VTU 2010 curriculum, which was pretty outdated when compared to industry standards. The exam structure was 25 marks for internals and 100 marks from externals. Had to score a minimum of 15 in internals and 35 in externals to pass.
Placement Experience
Placements in JSS, the year I graduated was pretty bad. Very less number is companies were invited, and very less number of students were placed. No internships were provided from the college in 2018.
College Events
A lot of events were actually celebrated. College fest in JSS named VERVE, was actually one of the best college fests in Bangalore. A lot of other events, departmental fests etc were also celebrated every year.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure followed by JSS is pretty standard. They used to collect around 60000rs per year, among which a part of it belonged to KCET, and the rest to the college. But the fee they collected for the college was pretty expensive when compared to other colleges.
Fees and Financial Aid
All the scholarships and loan facilities provided by the government are eligible here. But the college by itself does not provide any scholarships or loan facilities. But, if you can't pay all the fee at a time, you can pay it in installments.
Campus Life
The extracurricular activities like lab sports etc are good. We had labs every week and the infrastructure for labs were also good. That had a pretty good sports ground, and all sorts of extracurricular activities were encouraged.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is decent. The college helps the students by getting placements opportunities from the alumni students, which is a good thing. But they charge money to become an alumni, and that too it's compulsory.
Admission
Got into JSS via KCET. Had secured a rank of 8274. Got a seat in JSS in the second round of KCET counseling. The admission process was pretty smooth, had to provide my previous marks cards and some other documents like Aadhar card.
Faculty
The facilities in JSS were pretty good. They were well educated and well behaved. Most of them knew the concepts they were explaining well. Although some of them were pretty bad at explaining, but had good knowledge about the subjects.
