Remarks
This college has a long history, dating back almost 80 years. It is important to maintain that lineage, with a constant effort towards a better institute. The management must make an all out effort to listen to the students and solve relevant issues.
Course Curriculum Overview
Both the curriculum as well as the exam system are not up to date, especially in the mechanical department. Education mainly revolves around medieval technology, with occasional focus on current day industrial demands. Mind you, there are professors who are top notch who will try and solve such problems if you approach them directly, for doing research work.
Placement Experience
Mechanical department usually sees very bleak chances of placements, and the situation mostly remains same almost everywhere. For internships and jobs, it's preferred that you have some contacts that'll help you with these. Your proctor will come on handy for this.
College Events
Dynamech- mechanical departmentday, Nirmaan- civil department day, Utsav- annual cultural fest, This is one of the best cultural fest that happens in the city of Bangalore. Large and diverse events, sick DJ night, and crazy metal/rock music performances guaranteed. Phaseshift- annual tech fest.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Under KCET, it's around 63k a year. Under Comedk, it's around 2L a year. Inner management quota, it depends. You generally have to pay a fat donation apart for college fees, and this comes up to around 20L for the full 4 year course.
Fees and Financial Aid
Allahabad Bank is attached to our college and I'm sure they have lucrative offers to make. I'm not too sure about the rates at which the loans are handed out, but I've seen many students approach this branch for their support.
Campus Life
Sports and cultural activities are given a decent amount of encouragement. Very good facilies for basketball, badminton, TT, carrom are available. Labs are actually very good. music and dance are also given some encouragement, but it all depends on how you take it up from there.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors are very helpful. They are aware of the intricacies of the system, and they try to guide you, provided you ask for help. They are particularly useful when you need help with some research work.
Admission
Based on merit, you can either come in through KCET or Comedk exams. I got in through KCET. After the results of the exam are announced, you have to put up your preferred college list (for courses preferred by you) on KCET website. Based on your rankings, and other factors (reservation, NCC quota etc.), you will be allocated a best possible college. There will be multiple rounds of the same, in order to compensate for seats that are given up during the process itself.
Faculty
There are a few people who are stuck in the eighties, and will only teach what was right for that era. But there are some who are damn good, will legit industry knowledge, and proper education and research background.
